Plant stands are not just for plants
well at least in my house as you know how I love to re-purpose things.
I thought I would put together this short post to show you how I use my plant stands.
You know I had to start out by showing you one with a plant on it!
I have two plant stands in the master bedroom that have no plants on them.
One of them I use to display a vintage handbag by John Wanamaker and a vintage hat box
Plants stands do remind me somewhat of early candle stands
so I put one on this plant stand.
So just a few ways I use plant stands.
I am sure I will be using more of them to showcase the unexpected.
Have a most wonderful day and great weekend, doing what you love with the ones you love!

Great ideas Shirley. The hand bag and hat box on the stand make a great display! I have a lamp on one tucked in a corner of my office. Have a great weekend yourself!
you too!
Nifty ideas, Shirley!
Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend.
I loved seeing the old Woodies box since I was born in DC and grew up in Potomac, Maryland. We used to shop there and at Hecht’s all the time. Thanks for the throwback, Shirley!
I have always admired your plant stands and have looked all over to get some. Wanamakers was a store we went to as children, only for special occasions and for the organ show at Christmas at the store in Phila.!!! I wish I had saved some of my Mothers purses!!! I do have alot of her costume jewelry! For some reason just hung onto it. Have a beautiful weekend yourself.
Sweet! Happy happy Friday Shirley!!! xox
Love the unusual uses of your plant stands, Shirley. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too! Take care,
Cecilia
I love it when pieces are used for things other than they are intended. Great ideas Shirley!

Love the vintage purse and hat box! I have a plant stand that I painted red and it is still in the garage since our move. I really didn’t like the red color. So I need to get busy and paint it another color and find a good use for it! You have inspired me!
You have shown us the versatility of a plant stands- thanks! I love the hat box and vintage handbag vignette! You always have some great ideas and vignettes! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Shirley,
I have a little wood plant stand that needs some TLC. I think this weekend I will take some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to it! Thanks for your inspiring ideas.

Hi Shirley, just lovely! The vintage purse and hat box look so chic on the plant stand. I have a few that I use in different ways too. So much fun to change out. Thanks for sharing. Have a nice weekend. Hugs, cm
Shirley, you have exquisite taste and an eye for design and display. I’m jealous, but very appreciative! Thanks for sharing your ideas with us. Hunting down something I can display in a similar fashion….ooh, I have an old plant stand I bought at the flea market. It has twisty legs and I painted it with chalk paint, Old White and used the dark wax on it. The fern died….gotta find something to display~~~
That’s a great idea with the purse, and I love the hat box:) Lovely as always.
I love the hat box. I have one that I am going to redo. Have a lovely weekend. Jo
Love the purse and hat box so sweet. Your plant stands are wonderful and love your sweet designs. Have a great week end.

Such great ideas, Shirley. Love the hatbox and handbag…fabulous!! Hope you’re having a great weekend ~
Nice idea… I just got rid of a stand because I didn’t know what to do with it…
Oh my….it has been 13 1/2 bazillion years since I have thought of John Wanamaker!!! My Grandmother used to take me to Springfield, Mass., to Wanamaker’s store!! It was always so much fun…we got to dress up and ride the train into the city! My Grandmother was a concert pianist, very tall and VERY regal in carriage! I was convinced that my Mom and I were princesses and she was the queen :^)
Your plant stands have given me a couple of VERY good ideas….thank you!
Most of all, thank you for a wonderful memory of having a lovely day with two amazing ladies!!
Blessings,
J
