Housepitality Designs

it's all about the hospitable home

July 27, 2015 By Shirley

And Two Became One

And two became one . . . like the saying, “a match made in heaven”

or two souls became one.

Well I will show you today, how two things became one

by the generosity and thoughtfulness of a friend.

I had a lonely ironstone tureen. One that was missing its lid.

Until last week, when there was a package on the front porch

with a card that read, “I spied this lovely tureen lid and thought it might like to live with you!”

After I read the card from Mary (Home Is Where The Boat Is)

I could not wait to unwrap the package.

Isn’t it a beauty?

Mary knew I was starting a collection of lids

and thought it would be pretty displayed with the others.

For now,  until I gather enough lids to create a wall gallery,

I display them like this:

Vintage Ironstone Lid-Housepitality Designs

“Putting a lid on it” . . . and you can see how I display my ironstone lids

by clicking on the highlighted words above.

The tureen without its lid

meets its better half.

Hello . . . meet your perfect match. The lid fit perfectly!

What a pretty couple, don’t you think?

When you see an orphaned piece such as a this pretty lid, consider giving it a good home.

So they can live happily ever after!

I am so blessed to have so many wonderful blog friends or I will just say dear friends

that I have come to know through the world of blogging.  A great world to be in!

Have a terrific day!!!

Shirley, when I spied the lonely tureen lid, I knew you would give it a good home! I thought it would hopefully blend with your others and work its way on to a wall one day as part of a collection. I would never guessed it would actually fit one of your tureens! What a happy bit of serendipity! Enjoy and stay cool this week!

Shirley, that is utterly gorgeous! How very thoughtful of Mary! You simply have to keep that one on the tureen! I’ll keep my eyes peeled for you in my hunt on the longest yard sale (I hope I get far enough to see more than I did last time I went on art 127 – one block, lol).
