How to create a guest bath concierge?
why you use the Lady Baltimore, an NQV (Not Quite Vintage) overnight vanity suitcase/train case.
It was something that I always wanted as a child.
You know, for those sleepovers.
However, I never had one and usually placed my clothes in a tote bag
that was most likely made by my mom.
When my mother-in-law passed away, I was going through her closet to determine
what to keep and what to donate.
I then discovered this vanity suitcase, or train case as some would call it.
And it was the Lady Baltimore
that very same one I had wanted!
I have had this in a closet for years now
not quite knowing what I was going to do with it.
The other day when I was looking for something in the guest room closet,
I spied this suitcase and pulled it out and really wanted to display it.
It was then I had an epiphany!
This case’s purpose is to fill it with all of your toiletry/makeup items.
So why not do something like that and fill it with toiletry items that your guests may have forgotten.
A sort of Guest Bath Concierge.
Filled with many of life’s necessities and I placed a box of tissue in the bottom of the case
and pulled the tissue forward for easy access.
So for now, this case will contain whatever my guest may have forgotten.
Now if I can only find some great bath robes!
Have a wonderful day and
“Don’t count the days, make the day count!!”

Shirley, this is genius! What a cute idea. My mother had a train case (that’s what she called it) exactly like this one and it went on every family vacation with us, filled with all our toiletries. How fun to see what you have done.
Perfection Shirley and so thoughtful for guests!
It is always a dilemma when supplies are sitting out in a guest bath, but you’re not really sure if you should use them! A bathrobe and hair dryer are also nice!

What a clever and cute idea! Your guests will be thrilled! I love the sign too; it helps clarify they can use these items. I love your MIL’s train case; it looks new. It’s the perfect color for your bathroom. I wish I had my Mother’s I would love to copy your idea! It makes the vignette so special!

What a wonderful idea! I had a round vanity case when I was young.
Oh this is fabulous. I had one when I was first married. It was any ladies necessity. haha Loved it. This is such a great idea for your guests.

Well, I am blown away!! I LOVE, love the vanity case so much and what a perfect use for it!! Wow, that is brilliant and I love the vintage aspect:-)
Rats, I just threw away my train case and it was a light blue Lady Baltimore. Every time a declutter I always throw something away that I should have kept. Thanks for the great idea.
Have a great week. We are struggling through high humid temperatures and no rain.

What a great idea!!! I have a drawer in the guest vanity filled with items for their use and even an extra hair dryer. I also put a magnifying mirror under the sink. I LOVE the train case, have never seen one I don’t think. So glad you found it and it’s so special having been your MIL’s!!!! Got Joe home around noon!!!! He is sound asleep in his cahir at the moment;):)
Very, very clever!
Hi Shirley, great way to use and display your vintage case. I need to take one of my many and do the same thing. I collect them to redo and paint for the shop. Love how yours looks in the guest bathroom.
Have a great day and thanks for sharing your idea.

What a wonderful idea, executed beautifully, Shirley!
Shirley, I love this! My mom had a twin to this train case, but it’s long gone. Such a charming and welcoming gesture for your visitors and just what I would expect from “housepitality designs” ๐
I love this idea! Now I’m on a hunt for a cute train case! ๐ ~Rhonda
This is a great idea, Shirley! My 88 year old mother has one of these, and she still uses it.
Shirley,
I got a samsonite overnight case for graduation. I used it a lot but now it needs a new purpose and makeover. I love how you used yours! Perfect! I may have to borrow your idea. ๐ Really, really a good idea!
Hope your week is going well. Take care,
Cecilia
I use a basket filled with extra toiletries for my guests but this is cuter!
First, I just love that you were able to realize a childhood wish, and especially that is an heirloom. And second, I adore the concierge! Now, I want a train case. ๐ I think I’ll use the makeup train case that belongs to my daughter since she doesn’t use it. And, then I’ll find some people off the street to be guests since I rarely have out of town visitors. ๐
p.s. The art on the wall is beautiful…striking colors.
What an awesome idea, you are so creative. I now want to come stay with you ๐
What a great idea, Shirley! My mom had a green train case and I used to love playing with it. Such nice memories!
Ok, I’m ready to book my reservations! LOL! I’ve got my chocolates, champagne, fabulous guest bedroom, and what an awesome bathroom! I love it!
What a cute idea – I remember my grandmother always had her train case when she came to visit and I loved looking at all her “goodies”! This is such a fun idea!! Happy Thursday, Shirley ~
Shirley, love this idea! It was meant to be, now you have your Lady Baltimore ๐
Debbie
This is such a sweet and so pretty idea Shirley! I love the thought of a guest bath concierge! And I love the Lady Baltimore!
Shirley,
This idea is absolutely fantastic. The case looks like it is in great shape! What a nice, special way to display something meaningful in your family (with something helpful for your guests).

Great idea Shirley, and I love that beautiful train case. ๐ Hope you have a great weekend.
I use to love those. My mother and grandmother used them often… Modern times looses so many valuable items which were/are so nice…
Shirley,
What a great idea! I still have my two-piece set of white Lady Baltimore luggage my beloved aunt, Millie, bought me when I was 16 and we spent a week in Canada. I have filled it with keepsakes. I treasure it–reminds me of a wonderful person and wonderful times.
Love this idea!
Shirley, I love your creative idea! I had the exact train case when I was about 10 or 12 and used it during my teen years and I think I took it on our honeymoon! Thanks for jogging my memory of a long forgotten and well-used Lady Baltimore! I wonder what I did with it, probably discarded like many other treasures when I was younger and not very smart!
