Housepitality Designs

it's all about the hospitable home

August 3, 2015 By Shirley

Gold, Coral, Bamboo and Reflections

Gold, Coral, Bamboo, and Reflections have been the mainstay in the master bedroom lately.

I found a pair of “bambooesque” lamps from HomeGood about a year ago

and a gold mirrored table about the same time and then started the addition

of more gold in the room.

Then I added the peach/coral sofa and thus began adding more of this color into the room.

That snowball effect.

The bench at the end of the bed received a bit of a facelift

with new coral and white fabric.

It looked like this before:

The bench was covered in a light blue and brown houndstooth pattern.

I really love the new look of this bright and colorful design on the bench.

Now on to the bamboo . . .

Gold Bamboo Lamp - Housepitality Designs

You have most likely seen these gold bamboo lamps

and I have since wanted to add more gold bamboo design in the room.

Master Bedroom - Gold Guilded Sconces - Housepitality Designs

More gold was added in the room like this pair gold guilded vintage sconces

in which I later found out were Italian from the tiny metal tag that I found on one of the sconces.

While strolling through HomeGoods the other day

searching for a match to a bowl that I purchased at another store, I saw this mirror.

It was perfect. Just the right item to complement the bedroom with more gold bamboo design.

And the price was pretty perfect too!

Master Bedroom Mirror - Housepitality Designs

There was another standing mirror in that corner previously

and that mirror will be landing in my granddaughter’s bedroom.

I love the reflections of the mirrors in this room.

Master Bedroom - Housepitality Designs

You may have noticed something new in the room too.

Well, it is not a newly acquired piece, but a piece that was brought from the great room

The secretary.

The secretary and the large chest just swapped places.

I hope you all had a very nice weekend that is setting the tone for a great week ahead!

I bought a book this weekend that claims to be “life changing” and I have to say

the first few pages have been very enlightening.

Stay tuned.

Love the peach! Those bamboo lamps are gorgeous. I spy a Lenox pear. I have one of those around here someplace. I found some of the Lenox last week. Slow process, unpacking.

The bedroom is lovely. So bright and cheerful. Recently mixed in a deep coral (Pottery Barn sale) throw and pillow to my otherwise black & off white bedroom fabrics and I too really like the little pop of color. Your bamboo additions are just the right touch in my opinion.

Love the bench’s new facelift. When I look at the addition of brass throughout the room, I think “what goes around, comes around”. Remember all of our brass way back when? I’m still saving my go-go boots, just in case!

I adore the colors you use in your bedroom, Shirley! Soooooo beautiful! You would be horrified if you saw my bedroom. I cleaned everything out of my closet and I have a big table filled with “piles” I’m working on. Thanks so much for giving me a glimpse at the perfect and serene bedroom… this inspires me!!! Shirley, your bedroom is so peaceful and restful! I have always been a fan of gold, never made a switch to the other metals! It will always come back in vogue like everything else seems to do. The coral adds a perfect complement! Just beautiful! I am way behind in catching up on all your posts, just returned from a two week trip ! Happy Monday

You have such a sophisticated, mere existence bedroom Shirley, and you know I adore that ceiling ;).

The bench fabric is perfect, and moving the pillow that used to be on it to the sofa was a great idea. They really play off each other nicely.

Gold has really made a comeback in the last few years, and rightfully so. It adds a touch of class and elegance to a space when used judiciously, and you’ve done just that.
