Adding an antique architectural piece in the kitchen (antique gingerbread trim) was on the agenda this week.
I have had this architectural piece for some time now. I purchased it from my friend Kristen.
It has been in various places, like the dining room and on the ledge of the stairwell.
I was not really thrilled about its placement in either of those places.
I then had an epiphany, that ah-ha moment that it just may very well look great in the kitchen.
The antique gingerbread trim was placed above the cabinets at one end of the kitchen.
Don’t worry, this chippy piece has been heavily sealed to prevent further chipping!
When we first placed the trim above the cabinets it was there for a few days looking like this:
The piece seemed a bit lonely . . . afloat.
Something was missing . . . I thought it needed something like a finial of sorts
something similar in design like my garden finial.
Not as big or heavy though!!!
I shopped the house, hoping that I could find something I already had that would work.
I spotted these Pottery Barn urns/pots that I had in the media room.
Thought that the color and texture would go well with the gingerbread trim.
It was a good thing that I had a pair of these.
I love these pieces in that space.
And love it more since this project was a no-cost one. Using what I already had.
Aren’t those the best projects?
Hope you have a great weekend with fun plans.
I will be on the ballfield . . . well not really ON the ballfield, but on the bleachers
cheering on the team to hopefully victory. A local tournament, so I may have time
in-between games to continue my other project I started.
Organizing and decluttering!!!
Organizing and getting rid of things that do not bring me joy!
All with the help of this book:
“The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, the Japanese art of decluttering and organizing.”
I started with my closet and so far filled 8 bags of clothes to donate and I am still not finished!
My friend Linda gave me some advice, if it doesn’t look fabulous on you, chuck it!
And I am!
Have a most fabulous weekend!!
