Decorating with Vintage Porch Balusters

Decorating with vintage porch balusters was fun

as I walked around the house the other day trying to find a special place for them.

I knew that they would look great incorporated in a vignette, or on a mantel;

however, I wanted to do something a bit different.

So what did I do?

I placed them on the ledge of the dining room window:

however, I decided that I may like to display them in another way.

By hanging them from the window latch.

Like a bit of jewelry for the window panes.

Such a pretty pendant, wouldn’t you say?

When I went antiquing with Mary Alice and Yvonne,

Mary Alice found a bundle of these vintage porch balusters. I gasped when I saw them.

Later that day, Mary Alice, being Mary Alice offered to share these balusters with me. Really?

“OK, I will take one.”

“You should always have a pair,” she said.

I am so happy that she talked me into taking two of them . . . no major arm twisting went on.

As the pair of these look pretty happy in the bay window of my dining room.

It was a great day of antiquing. I truly love shopping with these ladies as we love to share

what we find and many times are on the lookout for specific items for one another. Special times.

Cannot believe September is already here. That means I give myself permission

to start the Fall decor. But then again, I cheated a bit and started in a room the other day.

Have a wonderful day! I will be thinking of crisp air and the spectacular colors of the leaves

while the temps are still in the high 80’s.

What a brilliant idea, Shirley!! I LOVE them hanging in your window…the way they frame your pretty lamp and topiary. The other two already sold or I think I would have brought them home and copied this idea!!!!

The balusters look very nice in your dining room window. So kind of your friend to share with you. I have started “planning” for fall but waiting until we return from Oregon to begin decorating.

It may be September on the calendar but it feels like August. One week we freeze and the next we melt. I’ll take the melt. Winter comes too fast here. Thanks for stopping by!
