Home Sweet Home

It is always nice to get away for a little vacay and R & R

and some business mixed in between.

I have been away for almost 2 weeks and it was certainly a great change of pace,

but you know that saying, “there’s no place like home.”

Zion National Park - Housepitality Designs

Our trip began in Las Vegas where my hubby had a softball tournament and

his team was playing for the National Championship.

While in Vegas, we took a couple of side trips in-between and after games.

The above photo was taken at Zion National Park in Utah. Magnificent.

And here is our team after they lost the Nationals against the “West”

however, still very proud of them winning the Eastern Nationals and getting this far.

Took a side trip to Red Rock Canyon . . .

And there’s no place like home too.

So I can water my plants!

And give my neighbor a break . . . I have a lot of plants!

However, I will miss the gorgeous sunset at Big Sur.

And having dinner and a great glass of wine and taking in this amazing view.

The restaurant with this incredible view is called Nepenthe Restaurant, at Big Sur.

So glad that Kathysue of Good Life of Design recommended this amazing place!

We couldn’t get enough of the view.

Needless to say, we ate our dinner very slowly!

Yet, there’s no place like home.

So I can place fresh flowers in the house.

And place more velvet pumpkins about the house.

But what could be better . . .

Than taking bad selfies . . . of me with the Lone Cypress behind me.

Sunroom for Fall - Housepitality Designs

No place like home, so I can add more Fall decor to the sunroom.

And keeping the blue and white for Fall.

However, I cannot say that I left my heart in San Francisco,

as our trip there was cancelled as we cut our trip short due to the impending weather

that was possibly coming our way.

But I did leave my heart with the spectacular sunsets of the California Coast.

And hopefully one day soon, I can say that I did leave my heart in San Francisco.

Happy to be home.

Worked on my front porch when I got home and will be sharing it soon!

Have a wonderful day!

another interesting fact is that I too was trained by IRIS and incorporated the art of redesign into a business

  19. I’m a reader of yours from Vegas. So glad you were able to see some of our beautiful secenery. Lots of times people visit the strip and that is all they see. I’very been to all the places you visited and I have to say Zion is a must to see. Just amazing don’t you think? I lived all my life in the south until a few years ago and I miss it dearly, but I have seen so much of God’s handiwork here in the west. So glad you were able to enjoy it too.

  20. Congratulations to your husband’s team for making it so far! What an accomplishment! You visited some of may favorite places. I love Pebble Beach and Big Sur! Mike and I traveled down the coast of California many years ago and had a blast. It’s beautiful, but you’re right there is no place like home! Your home looks so festive and ready for Fall!

  21. welcome home although I wish you stayed a bit longer, i was enjoying your pics on IG. We should do a girls trip to Napa or San Fran…my favorite places ever. welcome home.

  24. Hi Shirley!

I love how your post goes back and forth between your vacation and your home (which is lovely!). Love Vegas but have never been to Utah or really anywhere in that area. Good for you for planning some site seeing. The pics are beautiful and I think selfies are always cute!!

I’ve never been to your blog although I’ve seen your comments at blogs we both visit. I smiled when I came to this post, we just returned from a vacation, too, and I felt so happy to be home again as well. I’m trying to get organized so I can decorate my porches. I’ve always had pumpkins and mums much earlier than now. I guess it’s true…there’s no place like home!

  26. So glad you are back home safe and sound! Your travel pics are great! What views! For sure. Of course I always support the use of blue and white, no matter the season! Your porch will be great …I just know it.

  27. Beautiful scenery Shirley! That gorgeous sunset at Big Sur takes my breath away… We haven’t been to Ca in a couple of years but when you visit it makes you understand why folks withstand the risk of mudslides, fires, earthquakes, and drought to live there. Glad you made it home safely and had a great trip!

  28. It is so nice to get away especially with hubby… Lovely autumn decorations…
