Vintage Ironstone and Limelight Hydrangeas just seem to go together
like grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup.
I traveled to Virgina this week with my hubby
and was able to see my friend Mary Alice.
Most of you know she is moving, and I took the opportunity to pick up some items
that I purchased from her shop.
One of the items was a beautiful vintage ironstone sugar bowl.
I couldn’t wait to unpack it and fill it with the limelight hydrangeas
from the shrub I recently purchased from a local garden center.
I moved my vintage French bamboo stool from the coffee table to the sofa table.
I needed some height in that space as I added some tall items to it last week.
You know it’s all about the texture and scale.
Coming attractions soon.
The domino effect started. Since I needed to grab the stool from the coffee table,
I also started creating a new vignette for that table. Not quite done yet.
Things just seem to move from table to table with a little twist.
I am getting a little sad knowing that soon I will be putting away
my pretty velvet pumpkins.
Soon to be replaced by the glittering decor of Christmas.
I cannot wait to transform this room with the joys of Christmas!
And, now to announce the winners of the Southern Home magazine.
And now for the winners of the issue of the new Southern Home magazine.
They are:
Congrats Stacey and Cindy!!!
I wish you all a most wonderful weekend . . . I will be participating in our annual
Craft and Antique Fair.

Beautiful room, gorgeous decor – it looks so rich and warm and inviting. Love those velvet pumpkins!!!
That’s a very pretty piece you picked up from her and I love how the vignette you created turned out.
You are getting quite a collection of ironstone. So pretty.
You have such a lovely collection of ironstone, Shirley! I love the Fall vignettes you created! The Limelight Hydrangeas are a favorite of mine. Recently, I planted them at the duplex. Your room looks fabulous decorate d for Fall. Have a wonderland weekend!
Again so pretty! Good luck with the fair and post some photos on Instagram! Have a great weekend.
Everything looks beautiful, Shirley! As always:) Good luck this weekend at the event!!! So excited about the magazine, as I’m sure Stacey is too:D
Shirley, I love the way you added height on the table with the little bamboo stool. That’s such a neat look.
Now tell me, did you buy that Limelight bush just so you could cut from it? Because honestly, I’ve considered it myself. No shade here in my Texas yard just pure hot sun a lot of the time.
Thank you so much for the magazine. I can’t wait to get my reading glasses and coffee and sit for awhile. ๐
yes and no to the limelight hydrangea bush….Always wanted one and it was a great price and I got two for one…able to cut the beautiful blooms and then plant it!!
Everything looks so lovely! You have quite the collection of ironstone going on there! Have a great time at the fair! ๐
I love the color of those limelight hydrangeas! They look great in your newly acquired ironstone.
Beautiful sugar bowl and lovely vignette. Always enjoy your shared creativity. This year I waited for hydrogenous to turn a beautiful shade of brown before cutting them. Enjoying them inside for a late fall look.
You have such a knack for picking up treasures that work perfectly with what you already have. Me, if I like it I get it and hope there’s a place for it.
The little ironstone sugar bowl is so sweet…..great vignette! Good luck at the craft fair!!!

Looks great, you always do such beautiful vignettes. Love the sugar bowl.

I think ironstone is on my search list! It’s gorgeous Shirley.
I love your velvet pumpkins too, but I know you will have a beautiful display for Christmas as well.
The hydrangeas are lovely and they look fantastic in your new piece! I must say, that I am getting sad about packing up the autumn decor soon, too. How has the season gone sooooo fast??? I cannot believe it is almost time to decorate for Christmas! I love the holidays – but fall is my favorite time of year…

Your ironstone collection is enviable Shirley! Reading this post in the beginning I imagined your excitement bringing your new piece home and creating this vignette. It was like I was right there with you. That small table is lovely, btw. Not sure if I ever saw that before, but it has great texture and looks beautiful in your pictures.

Love your new-to-you ironstone sugar bowl Shirley! I love limelight hydrangeas, we planted three shrubs earlier this fall. Your orphan tureen lid looks so pretty included in your vignette ๐
I hope the fair went well! Did you find the hydrangeas at Dale’s? They’re lovely…and so are your sweet velvet pumpkins. I’m obsessed with that teeny tiny one!
