It was supposed to be a birthday and Valentine’s Day gift,
an outdoor rug that I saw in the Frontgate catalog
that I fell in love with!
I ordered it and they said it was on back order.
OK . . . I can wait, but it took 9 months! . . . . But have to say, it was worth the wait.
I ordered 2 – 5×7’s and was crossing my fingers
that they would match up when I placed them together.
And they did……perfectly! It even impressed my hubby
and that is saying something!
I also love how the rugs tie into the pattern and colors
of the dining room tablescape for Christmas.
You can see the upper porch from every room on the main level.
Therefore, I have to be careful to make certain that it coordinates with each room.
This year, snowmen seems to be the theme for the porch.
Snowman and “Heart Santa” pillow by Pottery Barn.
Solid Navy Pillows from HomeGoods.
Another pillow brought to the porch is this beautiful French inspired
Christmas pillow from Elliott Heath Designs
that I won from the lovely Debra of Common Ground.
In keeping with the snowman theme for the porch, that started with the pillow,
I opened a container labeled snowmen hoping that I did not send
many of them to the donation centers last year.
And happily, found my favorite ones.
This guy sits on the Singer table.
And this cute skating couple on the tea cart.
While the snowman candleholder cheers on . . . . “It’s a 10!!”
Snowmen on the coffee table.
The wreath hangs on the banister in front of the coffee table.
In the evening, the lights on the wreath
cast a warm glow on the table and the sitting area as does the garland.
I had a couple of rusty, crusty tables and plant stand
in this area previous to the rug being placed on the porch.
I did not want to risk the rust from the bottom of these items
staining the rug, so they were moved to the front porch.
Garden stools that were stored in the attic, happily found their places on the porch,
I want to end this post with these following photos I took
when I was photographing the porch.
It was a most beautiful day. The kind of day, when you take a deep breath
and count your many blessings.
Gazing into the blue skies and hearing the rustling of the leaves
as they are still falling (much to the dismay of my resident gardener).
It made me take a moment to sit and enjoy the day,
forgetting about the very long “to do” list I have for Christmas preparations.
Then I looked up and saw my spider plant with the result of some cold nights
that needed some pruning of the dead leaves.
OK…moment over…..back to work….that’s how it has been around here lately!
I hope you are taking some “moments” to enjoy the day
during this very busy time.
Have a very Merry day!!!

Blue and white is timeless and beautiful! Your porch looks so gracious and festive, Shirley. I would sit out there all day to admire that stunning view. With hot cocoa and cookies, of course π Merry Christmas, my friend. Stay fabulous – xoxo, L
Those rugs are wonderful! Your porch looks lovely in the snowman theme.
OH, those rugs were worth the wait. They are beautiful with your furnishings and dΓ©cor. Love all those snowmen….I decorated my porch and garden shed this year with snowmen. They are just jolly looking even though the weather is so warm.
Your porch view looks like the mountains, so relaxing.
Your porch looks lovely. What a great place to sit and snuggle with a throw and hot toddy.
Don’t feel bad, I think everyone has a long list of things to do. I need to get cracking as my son, who is Mr Clean (kinda like your husband) will be checking everything out. Can hardly wait to see Kelly. Don’t work to hard Shirley. Your rugs are stunning and well worth the wait.

I’m crazy for porches and yours is a delight, a place where I’d enjoy sitting, visiting and looking out. Good for you for taking time out. Sometimes we get so lost in “to do” we forget about just being. xox
Really lovely! If I had that porch…I would be out there all the time, and nothing would get done! Glad you hung in there with your back order…the rugs are gorgeous! π
