Organizing and refreshing the dining room was on my list
of small projects after the Christmas decorations were taken away.
I have been on the lookout for some storage items for this room too.
The dining room for the winter is also acting as a mini greenhouse
for plants that are waiting to be brought back out on the porch in the Spring.
The majority of the house gets great sunlight throughout the day; however,
the sitting area of the dining room is really conducive to making plants very happy.
The orchid in the sitting area was a gift from my sister last year
for my birthday…it has been blooming for a year. Definitely in its happy place.
The blue and white covered jars are back on the table
along with a blue and white bowl of preserved boxwood.
A new vignette created for the top of the hutch.
I relocated the tole candle sconces that were above the brackets to the great room
and replaced them with these small paintings of Paris scenes.
The ironstone in the hutch underwent a bit of re-arranging.
There are some new items added for storage.
Did you notice the new additions?
Yes, the baskets on the bottom shelf. I found the perfect sizes at Pottery Barn.
And it was also a great thing that I had several PB birthday gift cards.
The open baskets are already filled with placemats, tablecloths, and napkins.
The lidded basket in the middle hold an array of candlesticks.
Another room refreshed after being filled with Christmas decor.
Now on to the next room that needs a bit more organizing!
Have a most beautiful day . . . It will be a colder day for us
and there is even some talk about some light snowfall.
I hope the key word is “light”!

I’m ready to break into your house and steal that hutch!!!! So gorgeous. Love the styling.
Have a happy day!
Amazing that you found the perfect sized baskets!! I keep searching for a place that is convenient to store placemats! I may have to hit PB and see if I can find a basket and use it decoratively somewhere. Love your BIG dining room. Have a beautiful day. I am off to bowling now:)
Beautiful. I’ve been wanting to repaint my dining room yellow. What is the paint color?
Thanks Becky..it is Sherwin Williams Blonde.
So pretty and I love the added texture with those baskets for the great storage. I wish I had open shelves for added baskets. I love that look.
Love, love, love the baskets under the hutch! Your dining room looks great.

Love greenery in the house this time of year. Praying our nursery will get the spider plants in earlier this spring. Could not find them this past year until late! Love the architectural pieces on the wall. Very unique.
Love, it, Shirley!
You have a great room for plants…and your gorgeous orchid is rewarding you! And I love those baskets…great choice! ๐
I like your changes, Shirley. And, your spider plant is amazing!
The painter just left a few minutes ago. He was here seven days painting our family room and a piece of furniture. He is a great painter, we have been using him for years. But, Whew! I am so glad he is finished. Now, I have to wait a week for the paint to set up before I can get everything back together. I am so ready.
That is the best part….putting things back together and seeing the end result!!!
I love the yellow that you use in your home and your dining room looks so good with the perfect touch of blue accessories. I also love the ironstone collection displayed in your hutch and the new baskets are perfect. Maybe I’ll add some baskets in my dining room.
how perfect to find those baskets that fit so nicely. where did you get your dining chairs? that spider plant is going nuts.
I have two spider plants that have been going crazy since the summer….so need to baby them inside until Spring…the chairs (upholstered) are from Pottery Barn…the wood pieces are Ethan Allen…thanks Laura!
So bright and cheery that room is! I really love the blue jars on the table with the boxwood! That big green glass jar that you have ( I forgot the name of those things) on top of the hutch…I finally found one! Although it’s not an antique, it’s gorgeous:) It’s 24″T!!! I LOVE IT:)
I am still crazy about those balusters hanging at your window. They look beautiful with the sun shining in. Your French oils are wonderful! Your dining room looks so fresh and pretty, Shirley! Love that room.

Ooh, I’m gonna steal another one of your ideas! I just need to find some baskets to fit up under my little sideboard in the dining room! (I found it at Hobby Lobby, of all places. It has 3 drawers and a large space under it similar to your hutch. I better get my measuring tape…Thanks!
Very very pretty, you have some beautiful pieces and you display them beautifully

I give you an A+ for tweaking and always ending up with things looking just right. You have given the dining room a breath of fresh air that brightens and warms winter. BTW, are you getting some of the snow that is coming down?

I love your light-filled dining room Shirley! Your PB basket storage solution is handsome and ideal for your linens and accessories! I’m hoping they’re wrong in the forecast about the freezing rain headed our way before our snow “event”. We’re one of only three houses here and the last to have power back on if the lines go down. Stay warm ๐
One of the things I miss having room for is a dish cabinet. Yours is gorgeous! Your dining room is so comfortable and inviting. Beautiful!
Oh Shirley your dining room looks amazing. I really like the corbels hung on the wall like that for display.
Great storage baskets Shirley I need some new ones too but never have the dimensions with me when Im shopping. So I look, fall in love, and come home with nothing not knowing if it will fit. LOL
It fit perfect… Also, can use for lots of storage…
Your dining room is really beautiful and so perfectly organized! I am a perfectionist and for me it is a really amazing to see your home. I am planning to add some storage in my living and dining room and I am looking for ideas. Thanks for sharing!
