I Didn’t Shop the House

I didn’t shop the house,

but I shopped someone else’s house!!! ….. My friend Martha’s house to be exact.

I presented a beautiful red transferware pitcher to you the other day

which was also a purchase from Martha who is moving

and downsizing her beautiful collections and antiques.

When Martha told me the sad and yet happy news of her and hubby moving to be

closer to their son in Texas, she said that she will be selling some of her antiques

and collectibles. One thing came to mind for me and yes, it was for sale!

Antique Scottish Scale - Housepitality Designs

I have always admired this item every time I was in Martha’s home.

A very special piece and it is an item of part of my heritage.

My dad was Scotch/Irish and this piece is from Scotland.

  8. That scale is amazing! My heritage is Scottish/Irish as well, so I’m also drawn to such. I have a confession: I’d been trying to show a little restraint and not buy the pitcher that called to me at the antique store. I visited it a couple times. And then I open your last blog post, and there she is, the little beauty. I took it as a sign and off I went to make her mine. Happy day.

  9. Lucky you to get such a treasure! Mh hubby is of Scottish heritage too. Me, English & Irish. It’s the feelings and emotions that become the provenance of our things. You’re table vignettes are always beautiful sheila
