I Hope He Is Right!

I hope he is right! He being Punxsutawney Phil.

I hope that he truly did not see his shadow, as I am so ready for Spring!

There have been too many days of being house bound due to the icy weather.

I long for pretty flowers and the projects of Spring.

So I can use this:

Potting Bench - Housepitality Designs

The potting bench now is pretty sad looking as it is in the cold

and not adorned with flowers.

But I want to remain positive and “bee happy”

Flower Pots/Potting Bench - Housepitality Designs

Happiness is rocking in the rockers on the veranda with a great glass of tea.

Veranda - Housepitality Designs

Happiness is watching the flowers grow and hoping my hydrangeas bloom this year!

Back yard - Housepitality Designs

Happy is seeing the lovely green and the hanging ferns again

and also filling the window boxes on the upper porch with spring flowers.

Vintage Schwin Bicycle - Housepitality Designs

However, in the meantime, I shall plan on creating Spring vignettes.

Spring Vignette - Housepitality Designs

Of birds and flowers . . .

Silver and Daisies . . .

and moss covered bunnies.

Ironstone and bunnies - Housepitality Designs

Now the good thing about being house bound is that you get to carry out

that domino effect. Coming soon.

Are you ready for Spring or do you embrace each season as it occurs as

Mother Nature wants us to?

Have a beautiful winter’s day!

I am so ready for Spring this year. Here in Michigan we have had a mild winter but it has been very dreary. I’m longing for the sun and warmer temps. Bring on the Daffodils!!!

Absolutely wonderful! Love how you used all the silver…hmmmm, gathering up my silver, birds, eggs and bunnies…thanks for the inspiration! Great job!

  3. Loved the 4 B’s: birds, bees, bunnies and bicycle with flowers! Easter is coming early this year and your beautiful vignettes make me even more ready! Thanks, Shirley!

  4. I’m always ready for spring! Looks like you’ve got a nice roll on for spring decorating- everything looks cute. I have to wait longer than you for it to appear so I try to not get too anxious about it. The covered back porch of your home is wonderful. What a nice place to hang out in the summer.

  5. Don’t you know you can’t trust a rat! Spring like temps this week in Colorado but I know it is just a tease by Mother Nature. I am one that “tries” to embrace each season. Although I am looking forward to spring, it’s still about 5 weeks until it officially arrives. I hear that patience is a virtue.

    • One can dream of an early Spring and hope that Phil is right….or you can get away from the Winter blahs by traveling to destinations of warmer climates. Right now, I will take Phil for his word and dream of an early Spring!

  6. I am so glad to be back in the south where I know spring is literally around the corner. When I lived in NY and read all the spring post I knew I still had months left of winter. Now I am itching to buy things and get my front porch ready for some sweet tea sipping and rocking. I can’t wait! Your porches are beautiful and I love the ferns I am now thinking I need to add some ferns. I guess I’ll put it on the list of to buy.

  10. Oh how I would sit on your porch all day and enjoy every angle of the view! The little birds and moss covered rabbits are darling! I am so excited for spring this year in our new house!! I have two sets of french doors that lead to a screened in porch, at the back. On warm days I have been leaving the doors open to feel the breeze and listen to the birds. I planted bulbs in December (that’s the fall right!?) that are now starting to peak up. Today the flowerbeds are begging me to come out on this warm February day and give them some love…….Thanks for inspiring to get out and enjoy the day no matter what season it is!

  11. How I love your porches, Shirley! They look so inviting…I bet you are ready for warmer weather to enjoy them again!
We haven’t had much winter this year. The trees are already budding out, the daffodils and snowdrops are blooming, and our weather in the 70’s. Heavenly! I’m putting the winter decor away and decorating for Spring!
Oh! I adore your moss bunnies. So cute.

  12. Such a wonderful inspiring post. February is a hard month to get through. I am looking forward to spring, so I can get outside and do some walking!

  13. We haven’t had much winter thus far…hoping the worst is over! I get so excited to be able to be outside and to plant some flowers for my balcony. Of course, they all burn up by June! :/ I so dislike Texas summers ~ 110 F almost daily is exhausting. You are so very fortunate to have those porches! I’d stay out there in a rocker for hours I know ~ 🙂

  15. I can see why most of the eastern states are so ready for Spring. However, we skipped Spring and went right into a Hot Summer with temps in the high 80’s and 90’s. My flowers are so confused and are not blooming at the proper time.

Your home and gardens are stunning and I would love to be sitting on the front porch in that great rocking chair with a glass of Sweet Tea.

Hope that this is the last of your bad weather and that Spring is just around the corner. Have a great week, Shirley.

  16. Oh my goodness what a beautiful porch you have. Here in So Cal it is hot hot hot. Wouldn’t mind just a bit of winter!!

  17. Im ready for spring too. It was 20 here today and I did a little spring clothing shopping even though it doesn’t feel like it here. I love seeing your ferns on the porch, I swear I could see them swaying in the breeze.

  21. I just love your back porch…I would live out there in warm weather. I love to watch and hear mother nature so sitting in that rocking chair with a glass of tea would be great!!!! Today actually was 60 degrees here today so I had to do some decorating. Love your bunnies, I put out bunnies in the sunroom today. I am dreaming of Spring also!!!

I always worry that they picked the wrong groundhog, lol. I hope Phil got it right. After two days of gloomy rain, your photos are an elixir!

  23. Love your spring vignettes Shirley, especially the leaping bunnies! My potting shed is looking pretty sad at the moment and in need of some spring green!

  24. Shirley, everything looks kind of sad and gray at my house! I love all your vignettes, hope that spring is right around the corner! I usually embrace each season, but I am ready for spring! Pam @ Everyday Living
