I got a kiss and a hug over this antique piece. He loves it.
He has never reacted to an antique item that I brought home before.
Well, except for the antique wood and iron shutters in the background.
Oh, he would always say it was very nice and then ask where are you going to put it?
It is an item that I have always wished I had, admired from afar,
but never found the right one. Until Martha had her moving sale.
I think I shall call this baker’s rack, “With a Little Help From My Friends”
Why? . . . . Well let’s start off with this wonderful baker’s rack
that belonged to my friend Martha, and now it sits in my kitchen.
See the pretty purple paper filler around the hyacinths?
My friend Barbara gave me a huge bag of it from her
“I need to get rid of this stuff” stash.
Now, why did my hubby give me a big hug and kiss
after I filled this baker’s rack with pretties?
Because he could easily access all of his fruit in one place!
Did you notice the fabulous towel hanging on the rack?
A gift from my friend Sherri. A souvenir from The Downton Abbey exhibit at The Biltmore.
“If you’re tired of style, you’re tired of life”, says Mr. Carson.
And how right he is!
You will see gifts of ironstone and a bread board from Mary Alice
A beautiful bread board from my son. I love the combination of the beautiful wood.
Speaking of bread boards, this bread board hanging on the side of the rack
was a gift from my friend Kris.
Hung another bread board embellished with a pretty boxwood wreath.
The top rack will always have a seasonal flower in the ironstone bowl
flanked by fresh herbs.
But this week, the clay pots will have Shamrocks for St. Patrick’s Day.
The baker’s rack fit perfectly at the end of the kitchen counter.
I must admit, I was a little weepy when I finished placing
all of my treasured items on this wonderful baker’s rack.
A collection of great memories of friends and family.
The vintage bowls belonged to my mother in law that will hold my hubby’s fruit.
I guess it is my fruit too!….But he does eat more of it than me!
Do you want to know where I first fell in love with these baker’s racks?
Why in France!
In Cat’s (our hostess of our France Tour) gorgeous French kitchen.
Cat in her amazing french kitchen.
Here is her beautiful baker’s rack filled with the most wonderful things.
And here is mine …. filled with my pretties and memories.
When I finished filling the shelves, I stepped back, took a look,
wiped away a few tears, and said, “And Bob’s your Uncle” !!!
If you know Martha, you will know what I mean!
Have a beautiful day!!!

It is a beauty and you have “embellished” it wonderfully well, Shirley!
Pat@BPM’s recent post…Prelude to Spring
I know you said baker’s rack, Shirley, but I first had the impression that it was a countertop rack, with only the 3 shelves! Looking at that first photo, do you see how I could think that? Then, I thought you were styling and re-styling (wonderfully, btw). Only the full length photo made it clear to me, lol! It’s a great piece, and I can see you having lots of fun with variety in how you’ll use it.

Oh, and the tea-towel with the Carson quote is wonderful. Yes, I’m a Downton Abbey fan.
Great that you included your inspiration because Cat’s kitchen is beautiful too.

Wow! I have never seen a French baker’s rack. It is stunning! You have styled it perfectly and I thoroughly agree with Carson! My husband never says much about my finds but recently could not get over my new area rug in the parlor, and how it transformed the room. It’s nice to be validated!
Shirley, the baker’s rack is the piece de resistance!!! I am seriously envious! It is so perfect and you styled it perfectly with so many treasures!
