Springtime means guests in our house.
Whether it be family or friends.
So time to spruce it up a little to make it comfortable
and hopefully a bit of home away from home.
The winter throw was replaced with the cheerful quilt from my friend Martha’s sale.
A framed collage of Japanese commemorative postcards are replaced
by the vintage etched mirror from Mary Alice’s shop.
I love mirrors, not only for their beauty, but their reflections.
I have often wondered about the many, many reflections of old mirror.
Oh the stories they could tell!
I have been lucky to find pretty green and blue hydrangeas
at the grocery store lately.
The side table next to the guest room chair is given a Spring refresh.
I also changed out the large framed Monet print to an oil painting
that has been in the guest room bath. It is an old painting and I love the frame.
For the most part the Guest Room remains the same
with a little tweak here and there.
The lamps were previously in the master bedroom until I purchased
the new crystal and brass lamps. New pleated shades were added.
When I placed the vintage scale on the kitchen island,
this three tiered iron shelf made its way to the guest room
along with the ironstone bowls. Faux blueberry branches are added to the ironstone pitcher.
I must say that I so love my guest bedroom bedding
so it will remain for a while.
I am always on the lookout for new accent pillows though;
however, I may have to resort to finding fabric and having them made.
When I saw my sweet friend Lauren a couple of weeks ago,
she brought me a beautiful ironstone tureen with this blue and white lid.
Currently the tureen is holding mums on the French buffet so the lid is beautifully embellishing
the basket of books underneath the chippy bench.
By changing out the prints and adding a painting of florals,
a vintage mirror for great light and reflection, and other lighter touches within the room,
it is a start to welcome in the season of having guests in my home.
Small changes have been made and are still being made in the guest bedroom bath.
Coming soon.
My little sweetie has been on Spring Break this past week.
At the last minute we decided to make a trip to Florida so she could visit
with her cousins and her great-grandmother . . . and aunts and uncles too.
This explains a bit of an absence . . . I have been enjoying my family and taking a little break.
Have a beautiful day!!!

Your guest room would, indeed, make me feel totally relaxed, Shirley. I love your latest additions.
