Housepitality Designs

it's all about the hospitable home

April 6, 2016 By Shirley

An Unintentional Centerpiece {Blue and White}

An unintentional centerpiece happened when I unpacked my HomeGoods goodies

that I purchased while in Florida shopping with my sisters.

While taking the wrapped items out of the bag

and placing them on the dining room table as I unpacked,

an unintentional centerpiece/vignette was created.

When I do not know exactly where I am going to place a new item,

it usually lands on the dining room table while I decide where to place it

or remains as a place to rest after I walk the house with it.

Three new blue and white ceramic jars along with two boxwood topiaries

are the new items purchased at a new HomeGoods located in The Villages, Fla.

I added a blue pot of mini roses to add one more layer of texture.

We shall see how long this centerpiece/vignette stays on the table until

I find a more permanent place for these pieces. But nothing is permanent around this house.

Things are always on the move!

If you follow me on Facebook, you would have seen that I was part of a group of

Bloggers invited to attend a showing/tour of the HGTV Smart Home in Raleigh, N.C.

I had a wonderful time and it was there that I met Tiffany Brooks,

one of the HGTV Design Stars. Tiffany was chosen by HGTV to decorate this gorgeous home.

She rocked that house!  Don’t you just love that tile in the kitchen?!!

I will be posting about the tour of this home at the end of the week.

Me and Tiffany Brooks at HGTV Smart Home - Housepitality Designs

This past week has been a busy one for me with many activities of the HGTV Smart Home tour,

my travels to Florida and my friends’  Martha and Bill’s going away party.

I took pics of all the couples who attended with the “guests of honor”.

This is a photo of myself and my hubby with Martha and Bill. It was a great party

with a wonderful host and hostess.

It was a “Happy Trails” theme as they are moving to Texas and if you go to the

Round Top Antique Show . . . you may just see Martha there as a vendor and most likely

me too as a shopper!

So “Happy Trails” to you today, until we meet again!!

Hi Shirley, what a fun trip. Love your “unexpected” centerpiece. Isn’t that nice when things come together like that, accidentally?
These are such pretty pieces and I especially like the topiaries.

I know that home tour was fun too.

    Have a wonderful day.

Seems my stash lands on a table, too until I put things where they are going to go. Yours did make a pretty vignette. Yes, you have been quite busy!

Love the blue and white–have pieces throughout our home, too. Sounds like such a fun trip. I used to live in central FL–The Villages is a neat shopping place. Have you been to Mt. Dora (not far from The Villages)? If not, you should check it out–pretty little town on Lake Dora with cute shops.

I love the new vignette of blue pottery, and it looks beautiful with your hutch of blues as the back drop! Almost as if it was meant to be! Those blue hydrangeas in the pitcher on the hutch are the perfect touch:) Love the pics of you! Can’t wait to hear all about the house!!!

Woody Tanaka, what’s the difference between “desirable” and “bad” in your view? You’ve been using this distinction but I’m confused by what you mean by it. Regarding the appendectomy analogy, answer me this: is saving a life a good thing? Is living good? Is life good? I want to hear your view, not a recitation of what other people think. If life is good, then saving someone from dying by an appendectomy is good. This doesn’t seem like bad reasoning to me, just common sense.

Hi Shirley. What a beautiful home!!! Can you find out who is the vendor or manufacturer for the island chairs? I just got a house and will definitely love to them in my kitchen area. Can you help me please? I loved the texture, and clean look.
    Sincerely,
