Did y’all see the HGTV 2016 Smart Home on TV? Yes, set in the great city of Raleigh, N.C.
I am a bit biased as I live in this beautiful area of North Carolina.
With shows such as the HGTV Smart Home, I not only watch it as it airs,
I also DVR it so that I can see it multiple times to take in every detail
missed the first time around!
I had the privilege of touring this home, studying every detail
with the expertise of the HGTV staff answering our many questions.
Today, I will present the remaining rooms in this home tour series of the porches, media room,
laundry room and more.
Let’s begin with one of the porches.
This porch is located at the walk-out basement level. It actually is situated beneath a porch
that is located off the main level of the house.
Tiffany added great pops of color with the rug.
You will also notice the constant of the color yellow in both porches.
I so love these colors.
The perfect area to relax with a great glass of lemonade and gazing at the beauty
that nature has to offer. Beautiful views of the wooded area behind the house
which will always be a wooded park like area.
I love how the brick columns are softened by the beautiful drapes.
The porch on the main level, which is actually one level up in the back
(which is the same design that I have)
is extremely cheerful and a true oasis.
There is a connection over the fireplace behind the painting for a TV.
The cheerful color scheme continues on to the dining area.
Phantom screens, the screens that go up and down with a touch of a button on the remote,
gives you the option of enjoying the outdoors of each season.
Down for the summer months when the insects can be pesky, up in the Fall
when the air is crisp and pleasant …. and down again when the pollen begins to blanket the area.
The fan has a temperature sensor and adjusts accordingly!
Now how great is that!
Wonderful skylights with rain sensors and remote blinds are also in the ceiling.
Let’s go down this beautiful staircase designed by Tiffany Brooks to tie into the
Craftsman feel of the house.
Love the use of the three pendants strategically placed at different heights.
As you go down the stairs to the walk-out basement, you will see the Media Room to your left.
A room so carefully designed for a chic yet casual and comfy room.
If you have seen the show, you would have seen the artist that made the amazing
wood piece on the wall…..I wish you could see it in person…..magnificent!
Talk about seeing details that you may not notice at first. . . .
Notice the yellow and white geometric pillows on the sofa?
The same pillows are carried out into the porch that is accessed from this walk-out basement level.
The Media Room is also equipped with a mini kitchen so those snacks while viewing TV
are close at hand.
On the opposite side of the Media Room is the Gym and what a gym it is!
Equipped with state of the art exercise equipment.
The wall treatment is hand painted by a local artist. Bold and beautiful I say!
Last but certainly not least is one of the laundry rooms that is located
on the second floor. There is also a small one in the master bedroom area closet area
which I thought was a great idea.
Even though there are no windows in the laundry room it is so very light and bright
due to the solar tubes. I can attest to them truly working great as I had them in a previous home.
All in all, this has to be one of my favorite HGTV Homes. The designer, builder, landscaper
tech guru, artisans and vendors all came together
to build and create a most magnificent home of beauty and state of the art
innovations to make your home safe, efficient, and convenient for the homeowners.
Truly a home that anyone would love to live in. The winner will certainly be so lucky
to own a home that is so glorious in every way!
Thanks HGTV for the opportunity to tour this home! An amazing experience!

Oh my goodness this house gets better and better. I don’t see why I would need to leave the porches, just beautiful. Also I think with a gym like that I might actually enjoy working out at home. Off to go enter!

As far as technology, and all of the new and innovative ideas for a home these days- this house has it going on! I like the porch on the main level the most for sure, as it has the coziest feel. I really like how they used 3 lights for the stairs at various heights! That was a good idea!!! And I can’t believe the colors in the laundry room! Right now I’m redoing a rental bathroom for my mother, and I’m using the same exact color scheme!!! And I haven’t watched the show:) This good be a good sign! LOL! Hows your son’s home buying coming along??? Hope all is well!

I will look for the show!!! This house is truly amazing and oh so beautiful! Every detail is wonderful. When you mentioned that the master has a small laundry area I thought, well, ours is RIGHT off our master so I kinda have the same thing:):) I love all of the accessories too, the ones over the cabinets in the kitchenette caught my eye today!. How lucky you were to see this all in person! Thanks so much for sharing it all!!!! Have a beautiful day.

I love that porch Shirley! Adding skylights in the ceiling is a great way to keep the lightin the adjoining room. I’ll have to remember because I want a screened in porch at our next house.
It is a stunning home! I am entering to win this everyday, so we might be neighbors soon lol!

the patio area is just gorgeous and I love the choice of colors. Too bad they didn’t throw a color on the ceiling though, i imagine that would have done so much for the area.

Beautiful pics of a glamorous home. I need to register to win. While a truly spectacular house, just a couple of comments (hard to find questionable design choices here), but I wonder why the ‘mini’ kitchen in the media room doesn’t include a sink? To me, without the sink, I’d just call it a sideboard. True, there is a sink in the laundry room, but why not at the food area? One reader commented she liked fabric in outdoor areas, but for me, not so much. Living in the South, we have such nasty humidity during the summer months that most fabrics exposed to the elements, even if not in direct contact, tend to mildew. Taking down long curtain panels to launder and then rehang is a bit tiresome. But, hey, if I won the house I’d put up with it. 🙂
Becky….not sure about the sink…however, I live in the area and have not had any problems with fabric outdoors.
Thank you for your comments…

It’s awfully modern for my taste.
I agree. Too modern of taste. Some color combos nice. Taste overall may not last long. Too trendy. Gym wall would make me dizzy after working out.
Oh THAT porch… and to have phantom screens! We use our porch probably 10 months out of the year and just finished cleaning the pollen off, what a JOB. The first thing I noticed were the drapes used to soften the brick columns that I thought were genius and such a wonderful accent! Looking at the comments above I see everyone doesn’t agree. My MIL always said, “It’s a good thing we all don’t like the same thing, there wouldn’t be enough to go around” 😉
