Spring Upper Porch ~ 2016

I have been patiently waiting for the all clear of the pollen season to be over,

so that I could start on refreshing the porches for Spring.

Today, I present the upper back porch. One of the three porches that we use the most.

My friend Martha who relocated to the Lone Star State had this beautiful flower pot

that I inherited which is the inspiration piece for my Spring decor for the porch.

I remembered that I had a pillow with a lemon/citrus design

that I used in my Summer Sunroom last year.

So off to the one of my linen closets where I store my pillows

and on to the porch they went. Pillows of blue, yellow, and green from Pottery Barn.

The perfect compliment to my inspiration piece.

My only new purchases for the porch would be the coordinating striped outdoor pillows

that I purchased from HomeGoods and a few plants.

A closer look at my inspiration piece containing a beautiful Peace Lily.

I usually make a grouping of the seasonal plants and flowers of the season

in this corner.

I have my token Hosta on the upper porch as it is the only place

where the deer cannot get to it, unless they have wings and can fly.

In the opposite corner of the porch is my tea cart.

I use it mainly to display my plants, such as this ivy round topiary.

The topiary seems a bit larger due to the reflection in the mirror.

Oh, I forgot about this cute purchase from my favorite garden center.

Garden stools for handy tables for plants or beverages.

I am still enjoying my blue and white Chinoiserie indoor/outdoor rug

that I purchased last year from Frontgate.

Yet, the coffee table serves serves that purpose very well too.

Today, it is lemonade with my favorite tangy cheese florets.

Spring Upper Porch 2016 - Housepitality Designs

I think this is my favorite Spring Upper Porch as I love the beautiful colors

of the blues, greens, and yellows.

It makes me happy that I can see it from all the rooms on the main level of the house.

Does a pretty porch or deck make you happy too?

I am moving on to the front porch . . . making a big change there in one corner.

Have a beautiful Spring day, hopefully taking time

to sit in your favorite chair or rocker on your porch or deck.

your porch is lovely. I love the colors that you used. I still love that rug that you got last year. I am assuming that you bring it in for the winter because it still looks brand new and has held up perfectly. I sure hope you enjoy many happy moments out here!

Thanks Laura…no, the rug was on the porch through the winter and the pollen….I did cover the furniture during the height of the pollen season … took the covers off when I thought it was over …. not! The rug has done very well!

It looks so beautiful, Shirley! I love all your French doors and the exterior yellow of your house. It’s perfect with all your fresh blues and beautiful plants. It looks like the perfect place to sit with a friend and share thoughts.

I love the greens and yellows mixed in with the blues. It all goes so well with your house color. You are so lucky to have that covered porch. Even with the pergola there are several hours that are too sunny to use our space. I need to find some kind of a cover for the top. I still haven’t purchased any outdoor plants yet, but may get to that today or tomorrow.

Absolutely lovely! Love the colors! Here in the windy Wichita area, everything blows off of our porches and decks! Ha! (Well there are calm days once in awhile! And we do enjoy those when we can!)

Oh Shirley, it’s just perfection, so bright, fresh and summery! It would make even a rainy day seem sunny! I can see why you were inspired by that beautiful lemon pot, so sweet of her to gift that to you, I’m sure you think of her every time you look at it. I know you will enjoy your slice of paradise all season.

Shirle, PERFECTION! Does the rain hit the furniture? Do you bring your fabric things in when it rains? I have not had good luck letting fabric items get wet. Just wondering because everything looks spectacular, bright, clean and crisp. Thanks, Rebecca

Thanks Rebecca, no the rain never bothers the porch. The porch may get wet at the first 6 inches of the front of the porch but that is about it…The fabrics on the porch are outdoor fabrics and never had a problem with mildew, etc…even when I used regular fabric pillows.

Hi Shirley! Oh my gosh I love your porch. Was wondering where you purchased your furniture? I have really old, rotting wicker that I need to replace on my porch but I’m having trouble finding something I like in white. Happy Spring!

Very pretty… Great looking porch… Wish I had a green thumb and the heat here in Florida would be a little lighter… Nothing survives if it is not watered a couple of times a week and I just don’t have the time…
