For me, it is the little projects I never seem to get around to,
as I am thinking about the bigger projects that seem to make a bigger impact.
But these days, it is the little ones that I can tackle.
The little ones that frankly, I can handle with no lifting or major movement required.
It’s been a slow recovery process, but this too shall pass.
I purchased these lamps last year at the High Point Market and got a great deal.
When I bought them, I knew that I wanted a little bit of a lighter look.
Needed to lighten up the darker iron.
Similar to this one that was in the showroom at Bramble this Spring.
However, not quite as light.
I took Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White and thinned it out a bit with water
and dry brushed the iron portion of the lamp.
I think I got the lighter feel that I was going for.
One small project down, a few more to go!
Like this one. Finding things about the house
that my son may be able to use in his new home.
These recliners by Flexsteel with the great nail head trim that are in the media room
among other things will be going to his new home. They are like new in their condition.
So you know what I will be involved with very soon!

Shirley, the lamp turned out great. I really like the change. So glad you’re coping with the healing process and getting back to a sense of normalcy with smaller projects that can help keep you engaged.

Glad you are still doing “just the little things”. Sometimes when we feel better we over do and it sets us back. Take it easy and get better. Love what you did to the lamps!

Wow Shirley I hate to hear you are still suffering from those darn shingles. How much longer before they’re gone? I feel so bad for you:( The lamp looks terrific though and looks like you purchased it that way.
The lamps look great and you did a wonderful job on them.
Hope you are getting better. A couple of my friends have had shingles and they said it was terrible. So take care of yourself.
I have a list of little things and I still manage to never complete them. LOL When I get tired I quit and rest and then carry on.

You always seem to know what to do to get something just right. The color of the iron is perfect. Lovely. What a lucky son! I know he has to feel very blessed. I know you will enjoy helping him make his new house into a gorgeous home. Please know that thoughts and prayers are still with you as you continue to heal. Thank you for keeping us posted.

Your lamp looks great! I love doing little projects, especially when you’re not feeling 100%. Doing a little project meant that I accomplished something and that I was getting better because I did it! Hope you will continue getting better every day!
I’m sorry you’re still struggling with shingles. Doing those little projects helps take your mind off the misery, a little bit, anyway. The lamp looks great, and I am a wee bit jealous of those recliners. Our living room furniture is flex steel, and has held up well for years.

I know what you mean about little vs big projects. Sometimes it’s the little ones that give us the most satisfaction and bang for our buck. I think you gave the lamp just enough lightening up. You’ve retained its character but it looks much fresher and appropriate for your decor.
