Hydrangeas and Chinoiserie?
I say that is a great combination for summer decorating.
This past weekend, I was on the hunt for chairs
to replace the ones I am giving to my son.
Although, I was not successful in my quest,
there was one item that I found that had to come home with me.
Yes, I broke my rule again;
however, how could you refuse a voice coming from the corner of the furniture showroom,
saying, “take me home, you won’t regret it!” And I did and I don’t!
I have never seen a pattern on a crock such as this chinoiserie pattern.
I can see many uses for this crock.
To carry out this blue and white chinoiserie theme,
I grabbed a couple of pieces ( a sugar bowl and gravy boat)
of the china I recently acquired from my friend Martha.
I cut hydrangeas early in the morning.
I then soak them in a sink filled with water
to release any bugs that are lurking in the blooms.
Incorporating various textures to create a balanced vignette.
After I completed this little vignette for the coffee table,
I realized that this is my first Summer coffee table vignette for the year
and so happy that my hydrangeas bloomed and were able to be a part of it!
Do you start thinking about summer decorating after Memorial Day?
Or do you wait until the first day of Summer (June 20th)?
Have a great day!!

Great crock! Love your purple hydrangeas and so glad they are back this year!!
Shirley, the crock is fabulous! I have to say, I have never seen one like this! And of course, your beautiful hydrangeas were the perfect pairing! Happy Wednesday, Pam
Beautiful Shirley, love your new crock and how you’ve created your hydrangea vignette. Great tip too, thanks!
Stunningly beautiful!! I love that crock with all of it’s crazing…
It’s simply beautiful, Shirley! I’ve never seen a crock like that! Your hydrangeas are gorgeous, too! hugs…Debbie
your blooms look gorgeous as does that new crock. Happy day to you !
The crock is gorgeous…I can see why you wanted it! So glad your hydrangeas are thriving this year too. Do you know about the new rule….if you donate/sell 3 items…then you can go ahead and buy one item with no guilt? It’s my rule, I use it….it works! š
I love the crock, Shirley! I am so glad that your hydrangeas are blooming this year as they are beautiful with the blue and white.
Just beautiful Shirley! The combination of flowers and crockery remind me of Summer’s past.
Love the hydrandeas
OMGoodness, where did you find that FABULOUS crock!!?? I love it!!! Your hydrangeas are just beautiful. I don’t have any blooms yet but am hoping soon! Your coffee table vignette is beautiful, as always!!! Have a beautiful day. XO
And when you are tired of it you can just send it to me…lol. It’s gorgeous and a great find!
Nice find! Yeah, I would have bought it!! Your hydrangea bush is beautiful.. So is your Summer vignette on table.
I love everything you do in your decorating. I’m loving blue more now than I use to.
That is the most beautiful Chinoiserie crock I’ve ever seen … leave it to you to have found it (and listened to its “voice!”) I love how you placed your gorgeous hydrangeas in there, too … such a great idea!
Shirley is the crock a new piece? It looks old and worn, just perfect! and those flowers…..I would love to grow hydrangeas like that…..how beautiful.
Shirley, the combo of the blue and white crock and your hydrangeas is just stunning! What else can be said? You’ve got it going on!
Your first summer vignette……..gorgeous with your new crock and lovely hydrangeas! Love the composition, you are always an inspiration ?
So pretty! You know I love anything chinoiserie. I couldn’t have passed that one up either. I love that you have a Charles Faudree book as part of your vignette. I love his timeless style and look at my books all the time for inspiration. What a great way to kick off summer. I start right away…it is 92 degrees here today. Feels like summer
I’m jealous of your hydrangeas … and your crock!
Oh I do love the new crock and would have had a hard time passing it up too! The hydrangeas look so pretty- mine are a long ways off. I just read somewhere that if you dip the freshly cut hydrangea stem into alum it helps them last longer.
That crock it beautiful!!! Love the way the mantel looks in the backdrop too:) Chairs? and what kind of chairs are you looking for? Did you ever decide whether or not you were going to recover those twin chairs you picked up sometime last year? Have a wonderful day:)
Love your new crock Shirley and it’s perfect for showing off your pretty hydrangea blooms! I rarely have any hitchhikers in my hydrangea blooms but peonies are a different story.
That’s exactly what happens to me each and every time I say I will not buy anything else… Lovely arrangement…
Hi Shirley, I think so many of us are in this same situation of trying to say NO to those tempting goodies, but I must admit that I am failing and am so happy to hear that others give in too! š Your crock is so unusual and I definitely approve of the combo of chinoiserie and hydrangea. Yours are gorgeous. Ours have just leafed out, with flowers to come in a month or so. The peonies are just popping now. Your blues and purples are so intense! Truly gorgeous! Linda
