Housepitality Designs

it's all about the hospitable home

Simply Summer with Daisies and Ironstone

I went to the grocery store the other day.

Each time I go there, I usually make a stop at the floral department.

Knowing I had beautiful hydrangeas at home for the picking,

I was going to race by that section of the store with eyes forward.

However, something was lurking  out of the corner of my eye. Clearance!

Daisies/Ironstone Tureen - Housepitality Designs

There they were, marked down . . . 75% off.

The potted daisies were from the Memorial Day floral collection

complete with an American flag. Two of these quickly jumped into my cart.

The two potted daisies were placed in ironstone tureens

with strips of burlap fabric to add some color and texture

and to also conceal the not so attractive plastic pots.

To add more color to the vignette on the antique French buffet,

I placed some hydrangeas from the yard in two antique french food molds.

Hydrangeas clipped today were also placed in the Jadite bowls

that are on the two pineapple sconces that flank the stained glass window.

Today, hydrangeas were clipped from a smaller  shrub

in the back yard.

So happy to say that this house will be filled with happy flowers all summer long.

Have a wonderful weekend!

I hope it is  filled with the things you love to do

with the ones you love!

I love daisies, they look pretty in the ironstone tureens. The floral department is at the entrance of our grocery store and I am always tempted by the beautiful flowers they have. They are pretty pricey though which makes it a little easier to resist. Have a great weekend!

So pretty. I have a thing for daisies. As Meg Ryan said in You’ve Got Mail…”Daisies are such a friendly flower, don’t you think daisies are a friendly flower?” I do! They make me happy. Thanks for spreading the happiness today, Shirley. Have a wonderful weekend.

I never met a clearance section I didn’t like, especially when it comes to flowers :).

Your post reminds me I really need to get some hydrangeas. So pretty!

Hydrangeas are far from blooming here, so I have to enjoy ones some of you are lucky to have. I like the burlap in the bowl and will have to remember that as inspiration for some future something or other.
