I could not decide how I wanted to decorate the sunroom for summer.
Do I go coastal?
Do I adorn it with a summer garden theme?
Do I extend more of the blue and white into the sunroom?
Oh the decisions.
Well, if you cannot make a decision,
what do you do? You go with all of it!
I began by filling my milk glass basket with my antique Japanese fishing floats that my mother gave to me.
The milk glass basket was my very first purchase with S&H green stamps many, many years ago.
Remember those?
In our first few years of marriage, I used my trusty S&H Green Stamps to decorate my house!
I so remember when I would get about 1/4 of a book away from getting an item,
I would sweetly ask my mom for a “book loan” . As I got toward my goal, I just could not wait!
She always obliged!
On the other side of the antique blanket chest is an ironstone tureen
filled with seashells and a silver starfish from Pottery Barn.
The pillow in the middle of the wicker loveseat is a textured faux coral pillow (Pottery Barn)
On the magazine end table sits a grouping of coastal themed items.
Love the sea glass and the pretty soft blue and green colors as you see in the ocean.
Summertime Blues? …. yes, I added those too! … Blue Hydrangeas that is! …
Hydrangeas placed in a Pottery Barn lantern
sits on the potting bench.
The potting bench carries a theme of a summer garden.
Many vintage garden items such as this watering can and vintage McCoy flower pots.
Seashells and Coastal . . . . check!
Summer garden . . . . check!
Summer blues . . . . check!
Fun? . . . . check!
Hope you enjoyed my eclectic summer sunroom.
So what items do you prefer to decorate a room in for summer?
Do you stick with one theme? Or do you just do it all?
It’s like when I try to decide on what to serve for a dinner party.
Meat or fish? I do both!
Have a wonderful day hopefully in cooler temps than me. It will hit a high of 99 degrees today.

Good idea just using it all for a summery eclectic mix! I hate to date myself, but yes I remember using those stamps, too. I used mine for practical things like a scale to weigh ourselves and some small kitchen appliances. My dad even worked for S&H for a short time between jobs.
It looks beautiful, Shirley! I love the soft colors. Hydrangeas and sea glass go beautifully together! I know I would spend a lot of time in this room. It’s a perfect space to surround yourself with ALL the things you love!
love and blessings~

Ahhh yes, I remember S & H Green Stamps. My mother had stacks and stacks of them and I don’t remember her ever redeeming them. I wish she had as that milk glass basket is to die for!!! I love it, but then I love most everything you do. Thanks for showing us the way Shirley!
I think I could hang out on your sun porch all day, Shirley! I love all the elements together. I still can’t get over your hydrangeas- they are beyond gorgeous! Green stamps…now there’s a trip down memory lane!
Hugs,
Cecilia
Ah so pretty! Love all the blue hues!
Your dark blue Hydrangea is wonderful. Reminds me to add some acidity to our soil
so my will change colour.
Shirley, your Sunroom looks beautiful. I would love to have a sunroom like that. It looks so happy and cheerful. It looks like a great place to curl up with a book and have a glass of sweet tea! I also love your new pillows. The textures and patterns work so good together.
I used to paste those S&H green stamps for my mom!! She got lots of great kitchen ware using those. π Looks so fresh and breezy, Shirley — love the buffalo check fabric.

I remember S& H green stamps. I used them to buy appliances I believe….maybe I should have bought something decorative! Your sun room is lovely…I usually add some seashells, coral, and remove “heavier” things to lighten up. I could sit in your room for hours…it looks so relaxing! π
It’s perfect Shirley, I love that you went with all three! The soft blues and white furnishings will help keep everything cool and fresh for summer-
AHHH, your sunroom is like a breath of fresh air! I love it all!! I am just starting to pull out my shells etc. to decorate for summer. It is a rainy day today so what better time! I also used the S and H stamps. I got our first set of “silverware” and a swing set for the kids!!!! It took forever to save for that swing set. Those were good days though and wonderful memories.
Where did you get that beauitful lamp?
Thanks Victoria….I purchased it from HomeGoods about 3 years ago….it is a Drexel Heritage.
Absolutely love the soft blues and aquas! They look stunning! And I am old enough to remember collecting S&H Greenstamps! Enjoy relaxing in your lovely sunroom!
Shirley, I am all about eclectic and you did it beautifully! I had long ago forgotten the S &’H green stamps, love the milk glass. The PB coral pillow is wonderful along with the McCoy vases…I could go on and on, just know I love the sunroom!
You know I love to do it all (lol) and am so glad that you do, too! Your sunroom looks beautiful … full of so much charm and gorgeous pieces! (I “want” your Japanese fishing floats).
I love how you incorporated all of your summertime favorites in your sunroom…it all works perfect together for a pretty and fun combination. That’s such a happy room to be able to change up seasonally. I just love it!

I LOVE the green wicker in your sunroom! Would you mind telling me where you purchased it? Your entire house is just gorgeous…what a talent you are!
Love the mix of fabrics in this room…the coastal and blues and floral pieces add to the charm. Lovely. I’ll take a lemonade and set for a spell and chat the afternoon away….oh, if only I could. π
Do I remember S&H green stamps?! HA! It was my job to paste all those stamps in the books for my Mom. And, I do believe she had that same milk glass basket! Unfortunately, the handle got broke off (Nobody saw me do it, can’t prove a thing!!)Wish I had it now, so gorge! I love milk glass. I bought a milk glass lamp at the thrift store I need to get busy and clean up and refinish the metal parts.
Lovelovelove your sunroom! I am so stealing the idea of using sea glass, I have a hurricane with a wicker base like that! Gotta go and use those ideas I stole, I mean, “borrowed” from you. π
check check check! i remember my parents filling up there S&H books and decided on what to buy. your room with all it’s choices looks lovely.
I had forgotten about S&H green stamps! How exciting to pick out some new kitchen or decor item as young marrieds still at university. Years later I remember having stacks of them that needed to be stuck in the books. I took them to school and one day at rainy day recess my little second grade girls made quick work of that project. You could tell they had had experience.
I love your pretty sea glass. Where can you find it???
Love your summer decor in your sun room. Boy do I remember those green stamp books, I can still taste the glue on my tongue and the sticky fingers. I’ve got a gigantic collection of milk glass, that basket is one of my pieces. I started collecting it about ten years ago and just can’t stop. My husband would easily swear I have over 20 boxes, what does he know, I actually have over thirty boxes, ha ha!
That’s a great mix, Shirley! The sunroom looks so pretty. I could just sit there all day, reading magazines! Your mention of S&H green stamps brings back so many memories. My mom used to let me wet the stamps and place them in the books. We always got tons of them at Piggly Wiggly…lol!
I like eclectic!! Your sunroom looks just beautiful–you made everything work together nicely.
Oh, yes, I remember S&H green stamps. Filling those books was a big deal, and we got some cool stuff with our stamps! For awhile we got Green stamps from some merchants, Quality stamps from other merchants, and Top Value stamps from still others. I always liked it when you had a large-denomination stamp that would fill a whole page with just stamp to lick! π
Shirley I do remember helping my mother fill her green stamp books and then we would go to the showroom to select something special! I love your sunroom with all the different elements, especially the mccoy pots! You have managed to combine everything so it seems to go together so well and make an attractive and comfortable space at the same time! The hydrangea are gorgeous and so are your curtains! Linda
This post was a feast for the eyes! Everything looks so elegant and cheerful and perfectly ready for summer. The shades of blues are stunning.mits actually my favorite color, though I have almost none of it in my home. I’ll just live vicariously though you.
And yes, I remember S&H stamps. I wish I didn’t ;).

Everything looks great Shirley – love the blues and your coastal theme.
Mary
So pretty, Shirley. I remember S&H green stamps very well. I have a milk glass lidded candy dish which was my first purchase and treasure it because my mother gave me the stamps to get it.
Wonderful memories!
I’m glad you checked off all those items, Shirley! Your sunroom is filled with such beautiful items and they look great together!
I also loved collecting green stamps and having enough to get something, although I probably got a boring iron or other appliance!!!! You knew way back then how to pick out a special item!
I love it! I have a milk glass bowl but haven’t been able to find sea glass! Please help!
I love your ideas so much!
Martha Davis
I love it Shirley!!
Such pretty summery touches Shirley especially your faux coral pillow paired with your shells, seaglass and fishing floats! I still have hanging scale envy…I can’t find one that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg π
Very subtle and pretty makeover… Lovely…
Oh my, everything is so lovely and peaceful in your beautiful space! I never knew milk glass was offered through S&H. My grandmother and mom used to collect the stamps, and my grandmother would let me fill her books with her earned stamps! I so looked forward to doing that! π The blue glass balls look so pretty in the contrasting white bowl! And the sea glass is the perfect accent to your vignettes! You certainly have a gift for detail and decorating! ~Rhonda
I love your new touches in your sunroom. Aqua is speaking to me the last few years. Your antique fishing floats are so pretty in your white hobnob basket.Your fabrics and pillows are so pretty and were the first thing I noticed.
You have inspired me to change a few things and get out my star fish and shells.
I would love to sit in your pretty room and enjoy getting to know you better. Such a pleasant room.
Oh what memories of pasting in those green stamps. It was so much fun to go to the store to redeem them. I still have the brass floor lamp my mom bought with hers.
I do remember S & H stamps. It was always such fun. The sunroom is gorgeous. I especially like the lamp.
Shirley, I’ve always loved this room of yours, but your summery touches really make it special! It’s so light and bright, fun but still elegant–just right!
Thanks so much for sharing this at the Grace at Home party. I’m featuring you this week!
Lovely room Shirley! I remember Green Stamps too. We had no money, and twin babies…AND, lots of green stamps. We actually got baby furniture with ours. Thanks for the sweet memory. Blessings
