Housepitality Designs

it's all about the hospitable home

What I Have Been Up To and Part One of Our Kentucky Trip

It seems like I have been like a little hamster on a hamster wheel.

Going, going, a little stop, and going, going again.

That is why my posting has been so sporadic.

With lots of travel and family commitments, there seems to be little time

to sit and chat with you!

Today, I will take you on Day 1 of our Trip to Kentucky.

Woodford Reserve - Housepitality Designs

Our first stop as we entered the beautiful State of Kentucky

was the Woodford Reserve Distillery.

Woodford, a premium copper distilled Bourbon and the Bourbon of Churchill Downs.

The grounds as you can see were beautiful.

We wanted to visit a few distilleries on the Bourbon Trail.

I gained a new appreciation of Bourbon.

My hubby does not drink, but he did like the Bourbon Ball candy,

as you could not taste the alcohol.  Ha!

Now as most visitors to the distillery, they are most interested in how the Bourbon is made,

taking the tours of the distillery, participating in the tastings, and buying their favorites

at the distillery shop.

As for me? . . . You know me, I was in awe of the beautiful grounds and historic buildings.

The historic old stone buildings that house the distillery and barrels of bourbon

surrounded by glorious flowers are truly beautiful.

The Woodford Reserve Distillery is set in such idyllic surroundings.

Gorgeous summer  flowers everywhere!

Did I tell you that when we were planning our trip to Kentucky,

we thought of our friends of which we know would love this adventure,

so we invited them along. They were celebrating birthdays, and us our anniversary.

Here we are inside the beautiful reception area of Woodford Reserve.

Friends, Steve and Sherri on left, and me and my hubby on the right.

It was a great place as our first stop and attraction of our trip to Kentucky.

Our next stop was the hotel we were staying in for the duration of the Kentucky adventure.

The Seelbach Hotel in Louisville. . . stay tuned for some photos of the hotel and our room,

where just a couple of weeks before, a famous rock star stayed in the very same room.

And I will tell you about “the haunted stories”

In the meantime, I am refreshing our media room after two chairs were removed

and are in my son’s new home.

Have a great summer day! . . . We are trying our best to stay cool!

We actually did the tasting on their outdoor porch area. They brought the samples to us out there overlooking the buildings of the distillery…it was beautiful Donnamae!
