Toile and leather . . . a happy combination?
Recently two chairs were removed from the media room
and given to my son to use in his new home.
They left a bit of a space for me to fill.
Rather than buying new chairs for now,
I brought in my hubby’s favorite chair that was in his office and used to be in the family rooms
of our past 3 homes. It is dark in color, a classic flame stitch pattern, and I wanted to obtain chairs
of a lighter fabric to brighten up the room. However for now, this chair will be just fine.
I went into my pillow cover stash and pulled out some pillow covers
that blended with the colors in the room.
I chose three patterns. Two were toile and one a floral with a bird motif.
The floral pattern was a given. Then to decide on which toile pattern fit the bill.
I had two toile patterns in the running, the one you see now and a cream and red toile.
I liked this one, and my hubby liked the other.
So what do I do? I used a life-line and I phoned a friend.
We were both on the same page! ๐
The brown and cream houndstooth patterned pillows remain on the sofa.
A few accessories added to the tray on the ottoman to bring out the colors that are in the room.
This lamp along with its mate was in the great room
and I moved them to the media room when I replaced them with the blue and white lamps.
Taking a photo straight into a window is a bit tricky,
so I put the camera on the aperture setting and this is the result.
I am slowly working on this room, especially on the opposite side.
Where the kitchenette is.
I am also re-styling the bookcases on each side of the television.
All this in due time, in-between my travels and family commitments of the summer.
So do you think that Charles Faudree would have approved of the Toile and Leather?
I think so!
Have a wonderful day!

i think charles would say that the room looks amazing! hope your son is all settled and things are going well in his new home.
You have such great style! Love this combo! Have a great day today Shirley!!
Charles Faudree would approve! Your toile pillows look fantastic with your leather sofa! Your have a fabulous style! Your room looks so inviting! Great job!
OH yes, he’d approve! I think the toile brings out the richness of the leather and the leather showcases the toile beautifully! It looks very cozy and comfortable, Shirley. Hope your week is going well!
Of course toile and leather go together like peanut butter and jelly!
Oh yes…they go together….no doubt about it! The whole room looks great! How fun you got to shop the house….that’s the best kind of shopping. Now you have extra money to spend on your trips! ๐
I definitely think Mr. Faudree would have approved! I love the pillows that you chose, and I love the way you styled the ottoman. It is absolutely beautiful!!!
The late great Charls Faudree would be perfectly comfortable in your room! I love the toile and leather, You refreshed everything beautifully, Shirley!
Shirley why don’t you slipcover the chair or reupholster it in a lighter color if you like it’s shape and comfort. I used to have the same one in a former home and my dog loved it.
Of course Charles would love it as do I!!! That fabric really takes me back, I LOOOOVED flame stich! Could only afford pillows in those days though:) Anxious to see all you do in here. Have a beautiful day. XO
Beautiful room! Only thing Charles would have added is a spaniel!
Hi Shirley, you were definitely wise to pick up with the brights in the toile your chose. They complement the floral pillow and framed glass (is that?) on the wall really well, not to mention the flame print chair that hubby loves. I love the fact that you were able to pull from within the house while still giving your son two chairs speaks to your already well-outfitted home!
Yes, Charles, would approve of your choice. Everything looks great as usual. You never disappoint.
How is it going with your son’s new home? Bet your little Sweetie is having a good time decorating her room.
Stay cool, we are having a heat wave.
Mary
I admit…I had to do a quick search on Charles Faudree…wow…he would like your choices!
I do too. ๐
I love leather pieces because they are like a blank canvas, and you can paint it with a variety of pillows! You have really brought a sophisticated and softer look to this room with these beautiful pillows-
Course Charles Faudree would have approved! He loved a Great mix and you have pulled a Great mix together. I had a Flame Stitch wingback in the 70’s and curtains. I love Flame Stitch…it is still Classic! Can’t wait to see your son’s house.
It’s an unexpected, but successful pairing I’d say (and so would Charles)!
(I just emailed you about some spam).
