A Balancing Act With A Chair

A balancing act with a chair?

No, I am not balancing a chair from the tips of my fingers.

I was a bit unsure with the look of my newly refreshed sitting area

in the Master Bedroom.

After much contemplation, I realized this is what it needed

after I took the side tables away and added the plant stands.

Another chair to balance the other side of the area.

You should see my attic. There are chairs hanging from the rafters.

But this chair was not hanging . . .

I recently acquired this beautiful chair by Maitland Smith from my friend Martha.

The chair originally had a  cream colored moray fabric and as you have seen above,

I recovered it with the blue and cream buffalo check to match the other chair.

After I recovered the chair seat and placed it in the sitting area,

it was evident that I achieved that balance that I so needed.

I certainly do not need that many “seats” in the sitting area,

but it looks pretty!! 🙂 …. and the chairs have a less of a “heavy” feel in that area.

So what did you think of my “balancing act” ???

I want to wish you a great weekend!

Lots of my painting projects are on hold.

Which involves completing my sweeties room.

It is becoming more painful for me to hold a paint brush to paint for any length of time.

I knew surgery was in my future and now it has been scheduled for this month.

I have been putting this off for way too long . . . says the surgeon.

Have a most beautiful day everyone!!

Can we ever have two many chairs? And chairs covered in blue buffalo check? I think not! Beautiful room Shirley! Have a great weekend!

I love both of those chairs. I also think it’s a treat for ourselves to have something pretty to look at even if it’s not needed practically. I hope your surgery goes well. Sorry you have to have it.

Good luck on your carpal tunnel surgery…I too waited ‘too long’ and had serious loss of muscle and strengh in BOTH my hands (though the left ended up being the worse because I overused the left to protect my right, being right handed). Anyways, I hope you do better than I did. My CT came back within 6 months of surgery. I just wear braces to sleep and do my best to not ‘overdo’ though I had to give up my embroidery/cross stitch – just too much. I still paint but take lots of breaks while doing projects. I wish lots of GOOD LUCK!!!

I like the chairs very much – they look great.

I am so sorry to hear about your surgery – guess it is carpel tunnel, right? I wish you a very successful surgery.

    Have a great weekend.

Lovely chair, Shirley. Perfect for that corner, and I love the pretty blue and white. You got quite a few treasures from your friend, Martha didn’t you? I know you miss her, but what a wonderful way to keep her close. I will pray that your surgery will correct your problem. My friend had surgery in her hand about four months ago, and she is so glad she did not put it off any longer. She is doing great. I am sure you will too! Have a pleasant weekend! Thank you for sharing your bedroom tweak.

I don’t think you can ever have too many chairs. But I have a chair addiction so don’t go by me. I love the blue and white buffalo check. It is the quick and easy updates that do so much to change the look. I love your sitting area.

Hi, Shirley. Love your bedroom: I wish a had a big enough one to have to worry about a balancing act with chairs! I love want you’ve done with your room: colors, furniture choices and bed linens! It all looks great! Good luck with your surgery. I’m so glad they have a way to correct the problem nowadays. It will make such a difference for you. My cousin had it done, and never regretted it! Take care and take it slow! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch

Sending you prayers of healing and a speedy recovery, Shirley. In 2006 and 2007 I had both wrists done because the pain got so unbearable, to the point of severe burning. I don’t have the hand strength I once had, but glad I had the surgery. I love your new gorgeous chair with it’s divine upholstery.

Love the chair and the balance, I had the type of surgery you are having done on each hand this year. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. Some quick tips. Use mederma for your incision once the stitches are out. Also rub the area a few times a day to keep the skin supple and free moving. For me, no more numbness, pain and my strength has improved a lot. Good luck! Enjoy the freedom that returns to you. ??
