Housepitality Designs

it's all about the hospitable home

October 16, 2016 By Shirley

“Life In Season” and a Giveaway

Life in Season  “celebrates the moments that fill your heart and home.”

The lovely, lovely ladies of At the Picket Fence blog,

Heather and Vanessa, wrote a beautiful and inspirational book

celebrating life filling your heart and home with abundant joy.

Today, I will give you a glimpse into this book

of amazing home decor, craft projects, recipes,

and the most inspirational stories in which many of us can all relate to.

I so love this book that I am giving away a copy of this book to two lucky winners!

Life in Season - Housepitality Designs

The book as you may guess is divided into seasons

that hold stories of encouragement, insightfulness and will bring joy and peace to your heart!

SPRING

2-SpringHeader

The cutest Easter Egg tabletop decor.

An easy, budget friendly (all projects presented are super budget friendly)

with step by step instructions.

The story on the next page we can all relate to:

Here is an excerpt: “I go through the motions of living but,

forget to actually live, to live right there in the moment.”

SUMMER

3-SummerHeader-resized

When I saw this pretty page, it reminded me of my vignette in my kitchen.

The image leads you into the recipe of making “Lavender Simple Syrup” and the

story that follows is about our willingness to get to the root of a problem and how

the result will make things and our lives flourish.

AUTUMN

Another simply beautiful DIY project that has so much potential for

many other uses. I love this project as it certainly depicts the style and warmth

of At The Picket Fence.

Autumn Vignette - Life in Season - Housepitality Designs

Vanessa speaks of a term she dubbed as “melan-fall-y. A story of how many of us feel

about how quickly time passes. Moments of bittersweetness, knowing we cannot stop the clock.

The feeling of “melan-fall-y” …. however, she realized,

“maybe feeling “melan-fall-y” is actually a gift. A chance to pause

and revel in this season before moving on quickly to the next one.”

WINTER

WinterHeader

I always say that I am going to make these adorable ornaments out of book pages,

however, with the the hectic days of the holidays, I seem to never get around to it.

This year, I am taking note of the quote in the book:

“I find myself completely overwhelmed by all the options and stressed out

thinking about how critical it is, that I make the absolute most out of every day.”

Life in Season - Housepitality Designs

This book, “Life in Season” encompasses all that can make your heart and home

fill with joy, love, laughter, and inspiration.

Should you love to win a chance to have this beautiful book,

just leave me a comment telling me so and what is your  favorite season that brings you joy.

The winners will be chosen at random and announced on October 31st.

Good luck!

Each season generates special feelings and joy for me (well maybe not winter so much!) that it’s impossible for me to choose. I love the spring for it’s fresh, new start. I love the summer for the hot days that inspire a bit of lazy indulgence and for the glorious blue skies and colourful gardens. I love autumn for the crisp air and the beautiful display of leaves changing colours. I love winter mostly for Christmas and the twinkly lit up houses, for snow crunching underfoot and for the beautiful effect of freshly fallen snow making everything look new.

Thank you for the giveaway! xox

I love winter! I live in Florida and it seems like we have summer all the time. I love the winter when the temps cool off a little bit and the humidity is gone. It just seems like a breath of fresh air and it makes me happy!

Congratulation, Heather an Vanessa on this lovely book. Your quote ” I go through the motion of living but, forget to actually live, to love in the moment”. Really touched me. I am so guilty of this. I find myself always looking forward for tomorrow. Maybe, the sun will shine, maybe, it will rain and give us the moisture much needed. MY favorite season (time) is mid Spring when my flowers start popping their heads thru the soil and the trees leaves return. I also love summer (especially) the sun, the beautiful flowers, growing vegetables and sitting on my patio. I love to have breakfast and dinner outside in the summer (even when it’s hot).turn on the fans. When it gets cooler in the fall (turn on the patio heater) anything to be outside.. I’m living my 3rd Act. I have had a good life. Always, surrounded myself with positive people. I just recently found all of you lovely ladies and your blogs. I SO enjoying your posts and getting wonderful ideas for my home.which has always been very important to me. So please continue entertaining me with all your “words of wisdom” and beautiful decorating ideas.

Favorite time of year would have to be Fall. Love the colors of the leaves and feel of the air changing. We live on a lake so life slows down around here when its too cold to be on the lake.

If I have to choose one it would be Spring here in Texas with the bluebonnets in March & April followed by all of the other wonderful Texas wildflowers. A time of beauty in the landscape along with renewal and growth and the promise of things to come. The book looks just delightful, thanks for the chance!

What a delightful book and the author touches on what most people feel during the different seasons. I love the fall season most but I also know winter is around the corner. I just tell myself winter is a time to do more crafting: quilting, sewing and crochet. Then there is also the making of soups and chili and baking-ohhhh, the aromas in the kitchen during fall and winter. Major holidays with the chance to be with seldom seen, far away family members. Spring-renewal, fresh air and getting out more. Summer when the tomatoes begin to ripen, swimming and so much more. Yes, fall is my favorite but there is so much to look forward to throughout all four seasons.

I find this verse Ecc. 3:1 very comforting. Seasons of life are reflected by nature. I have always enjoyed living in areas of the country that reflect the seasons. Though summer has been my favorite time of year I find spring becoming more and more favored. The excitement of seeing new life come forth in the gardens and landscape as well as the first robin hopping in the yard is hard to top!

Heather and Vanessa, what a lovely book! I so enjoy the different Seasons God has given us; it reminds me of the Seasons in our life….. We are into Fall now and the beauty of the leaf changing color, God’s creation getting ready to settle into Winter. We have Oct. when deer will bring forth their fawns in Spring. Then we have the budding of all the flowers, trees in my Garden to enjoy. Then Summer Time when we can enjoy time together at the Ocean……Fall and Spring are my favorite Seasons but enjoy each nugget each Season brings….

This looks like a wonderful book. I’m thankful that I live where there is a definite change in every season. Spring and fall are my very favorites. After a hard winter with cold and ice, seeing green shoots start showing up in the yard reminds me that better weather is coming. Then, after a hot summer, the changing colors of the leaves cool me off and remind me to enjoy the fall season (because winter won’t be far behind.)
