Several years ago, while shopping in one of my favorite furniture stores,
Arhaus, I came across a clearance bin filled with shiny silver items.
Upon close inspection, I discovered that they were long silver metal antlers.
With an original price tag of $49.00 each, they were clearanced at $10/each.
So two of them landed in my arms.
I used these antlers in many vignettes, especially during the Holidays.
However, I needed a change. I needed them to have a warmer look.
So what did I do? How did I make this happen? Rub and Buff!
The original metal antler was silver and I changed it to antique gold.
I decided to change up the centerpiece on the dining room table,
using the transformed antlers and some pinecones that I found on my walk the other day.
I wanted to achieve a soft glow to the table.
Adding the brass candlesticks with my Balsam Hill Miracle Flame Candles fit the bill.
On my walk the other morning I found some mini pinecones
that were still attached to a small branch and some with the needles also attached.
I think they blew off the trees from the winds of the hurricane.
Pinecones from my walk and others that I had in my stash,
were placed in my vintage “keep in the family” ironstone bowl
and placed on the vintage grain sack around the antlers and the pumpkins.
I have grown so fond of the faux flickering candles. So mesmerizing.
With a few changes, this vignette can be taken right into the winter and Holiday season.
My walk home with my hands filled with pinecones made me think about
sticking a plastic bag in my pocket just in case I come across more treasures!
Have you found anything interesting on your walks?
Off to take my morning walk (with a plastic bag in my pocket) as it is “falling pinecone season.”
Have a most incredible day!!!

I love how you transformed your antler and added a warm glow with Rub and Buff! I carry pruning shears in a bag from time to time when I walk the dogs to cut Goldenrod, Queen’s Anne’s Lace or Bachelor Buttons 🙂
What a great find and bargain. Antlers add such a nice natural affect to vignettes like this. Love the vintage grain sack!
The gold is much better. Love Rub N Buff! I like your grain sack with the pretty blue stripes!!
Your Fall vignette on the dining table looks beautiful! I love the gold on the antlers, and the pine cones and pretty grain sack runner add the perfect touch! I hope you have a happy and blessed day!!!
I love this vignette! So simple, yet so charming. Lovely!
It’s perfect Shirley! Love the rub n buff antlers….nice touch. I used to pick up pinecones on my walks, until our trees got big enough to supply my needs! I used to walk with clippers too…there were empty lots, and lots of cat tails! Enjoy your day! 😉
Shirley, a very pretty centerpiece! It’s hard to decide between silver and gold, isn’t it? I love both, and it varies, depending on how I’m styling. Yours looks handsome. And yes, I’m very often putting things in my pockets on walks, just yesterday adding a few acorns with their hats still attached!
Beautiful Shirley, and those long antlers were a bargain. Hubby and I go to our property in an adjacent town once a year for my pinecone picking. You did good on your walk!
Shirley, I always have a supply of Rub N Buff.,.it works wonders. Your dining table is beautifully simple, it goes to show that if we keep our eyes open they are so many treasures, free for the taking, that we can incorporate in our decor. You elevated the humble pine cone! Blessings!
Just beautiful, Shirley! I love the way you mix textures. And don’t you love that brass is in again?
When we had a vacation house in South Carolina I took plastic bags with me for pinecones and shells when walking or biking. Love your golden antlers. I need to try some rub and buff. I love the idea of decorating where transitioning is easy. Nice to visit with you today! Sheila
Your vignette is so pretty, Shirley! I take plastic bags out in the yard with me at the Louisiana house. There are always tons of pinecones in the yard. I use them to make little vignettes at the house there. Your antlers look great! You always have the best accents!
Ooh, I do love me a bargain, and you certainly found one! Love ’em more with the gold finish, I must say. We have pine cones aplenty in my yard, especially after a windy day. I also have a gumball tree *big mistake, planting that* and I’m going to string ’em for garlands at Christmas time. They’re pretty au naturale or spray painted gold.
Those golden antlers are gorgeous! So rich and warm looking. Never heard of Rub N Buff until today but I can hardly wait to get some!
Your display is really lovely – antlers, pine cones, flickering candles…perfection!
I love the gold antlers as they are more natural and warm as you wanted! A beautiful fall centerpiece…can’t wait to see its easy transformation to Christmas!
Pretty change, love the addition of pinecones. Pinecones add great texture to vignettes. Good thing you’re bringing a bag with you on your walks. Never know what you may find
Cindy
How pretty. I love the gold buff on the antlers. You are lucky to have pine trees around!
Never heard of Rub and Buff, what a handy tip! Your vignette is lovely Shirley-
Your vignette is a perfect interpretation of the sometimes overlooked beauty of fall. Rub and Buff perfected and softened your treasures. I love it. So pretty. My husband gathered some early fallen pine cones as a result of Hurricane Matthew. He knew I would use them in my fall decorating. I love the texture they bring to decor and the endless possibilities just like your creativity conveys. Thank you for sharing, Shirley!
I’ve been wanting some antler for several years now. I like what you did with yours. Nice to learn about Rub and Buff. Your little pine cones are so cute and the way you styled your vignette is striking on your grain sack runner. I like your flickering candles too. I may have to copy your idea.
Hope you have a great weekend. I’m excited my daughter and family are arriving soon for a visit.
I love it Shirley! I usually use “found” natural elements in my centerpiece, or any holiday decorations. Pine cones, shells, feathers, branches, they are all material to create some seasonal beauty, and paired with the French antiques I sell make for easy, beautiful vignettes. Thank you for the inspiration, friend! xo Lidy
Soft, serene and beautiful for fall. Love those antlers. Happy Weekend Shirley.
Hugs,
Kris
Using the same thing different is what I do again and again. It will be fun to see how you change things up.
I just had to come and visit this post after seeing your more recent transformation of the mirror. The transformation is amazing on these antlers Shirley!
