it's all about the hospitable home

This Year’s Christmas Decorating Inspiration

This year’s Christmas decorating inspiration began with a pillow.

Was it the design or was it the beautiful shades of color that attracted me to it.

I would have to say, both.

When I packed away last season’s Christmas decorations I did a lot of purging . . .

giving away and donating many ornaments and decorations.

I made a decision not to buy any more decorations as I had so much

that I have collected over the years.

But when I saw this pillow, I caved!

Great Room Christmas Decor - Pottery Barn Pillow - Housepitality Designs

Yes, love at first sight with this Velvet Applique Deer Pillow cover by Pottery Barn.

My hubby had a baseball tournament in Ft. Myers, Florida, last week and while shopping

at a great Naples, Florida mall, these deer pillow covers were calling my name.

The colors in the pillow could not be more perfect for the chairs in this room.

It was like they were made for each other.

I love the fact that these pillows can be used into the winter months.

I have started my Christmas decorating … beginning in the great room, adding pillows,

and working on the mantel.

When I was in Florida last week, I was able to do some exploring and did some antiquing.

I did come home with a few things, and one of these landed in the Great Room.

When I finish styling it with some Christmas decor,

I will show you my new found treasure.

Christmas decorating is in full swing in this house. It takes me a while, so I have to

start early …. My goal is to be completely done by December 1st, so that I can

enjoy the rest of the month enjoying the Joys of the Season.

Have you begun yours?

Have a beautiful day!!!

Waterside Shops? Love that place. My 4 sisters live in Naples and I lived there for many years. Love your new pillow covers! I start decorating the day after Thanksgiving. This year in this temporary rental I will probably not do very much.

Those are beautiful pillows and wonderful for a neutral look! I have picked up a few things for Christmas decorating but haven’t started putting my Christmas deco out just yet. I say to myself every year you don’t need anything else but somehow I end up getting more. I do purge every year though. I did get a furry tree skirt- I love the cozy warm feeling it evokes. Love the pretty furry throw you have too!

I am REALLY busy this week and then next Monday am having a breakfast, so can’t be in the middle of it:(:( But I will be working my tail off NEXT week to get it all done. Have a beautiful day. Naples is great for shopping for sure!!!

You caved…ha ha. I did the same thing but it was with red velvet pillows. And…I am basing my decorating from those red pillows. Oh how we think alike! However, your gorgeous pillow can stretch into winter! You were smarter than me! Can’t wait to see your wonderful designs.

I’m wondering if you purchased the feather or synthetic insert…I live this pillow, and the touch of nature is always welcome.

How pretty, Shirley! Your pillow is perfect! I rarely have a plan, unless I’m going in a totally different direction…lol! We stopped at Holiday Warehouse on Sunday; and my wheels started turning. Fortunately, I can use some decor that I already have. I only bought one new piece! We’ll see how it plays out!
