it's all about the hospitable home

I Have A Blue Christmas in the Master Bedroom

Whenever I hear Blue Christmas, it reminds me of that song by Elvis.

You know the one, “I’ll Have A Blue Christmas Without You” …

That being said, I have a blue Christmas in the Master Bedroom this year.

I did not use the Winter Birds bedding this year.

I thought I would do something different and I did.

I decided rather than placing a seasonal pattern on the bed,

I would go with  blue and white bedding and add light touches of Christmas decor.

I saw these blue and green plaid pillows on Kathysue’s blog, Good Life of Design

and I had that epiphany. Kathysue carefully plans all of her seasonal decor with perfection.

I ordered the  pillows thinking they would be great with the blue and white bedding.

I have a peach/blush sofa in my sitting area, so using too much red

is not a good thing. The blue plaid pillows were perfect.

Adding the Joyeux Noel pillow was the perfect accent along with the Falalalala Lalalala pillow

on the bench at the foot of the bed.

Did you spy a tree on the bedside table?

I have had this tree for many years and have used it in many different rooms.

It was in the kitchen last year.

A preserved boxwood topiary is placed in a Spode Christmas planter.

When I buy a boxwood topiary, I usually take it out of the original container,

as for the most part they are not very interesting nor go with my decor.

The sitting area is simply decorated, using pillows

and a little fresh greenery to decorate the space.

I placed fresh evergreens in this antique Noritake Chinoiserie sugar bowl.

I was going to add some flowers but it looked perfect just with the evergreens.

I am pleased with the decision to have blue and white in this room for Christmas.

This Christmas swag of faux greens was the perfect thing to dress up the mirror

without a lot of fuss. Faux red berries were added to the topiaries

to give it a festive, simple look.

Hope you enjoyed this year’s Master Bedroom dressed for Christmas.

I will be back tomorrow with a mini Christmas Home Tour

and the reveal of my front porch decked out for Christmas.

And yes, Rudy will be there.

I will touring with the 12 Days of Holiday Homes Tour.

See you Sunday … and in the meantime,

Have a Very Merry Day!!!

I always love touring your Christmas bedroom. It may be singing the blues, but so joyously. Love the plaid pillows and that vintage Santa one on the chair. I had almost ordered one like that to use in my room, but the delivery was going to be too late.

Simply beautiful. Love your coffered ceiling–stunning. Your white tree is adorable–potentially a fairly easy diy. I like your idea of changing out the pots–so much prettier and personal. To you and your family I hope you have a wonderful christmas.

I am loving your blue room for Christmas! Those plaid pillows are perfect! I also love the Santa one…of course. I have looked for the winter birds throw pillow but haven’t found one. But found a pillow that I think goes nicely. Have a beautiful weekend and hope it wasn’t too cold doing your porch yesterday!

Love the blue and green! I think blue is a fresh take on traditional for Christmas. Your bedroom says winter and Christmas, but is also elegant and peaceful. Beautiful!

I love blue and white for Christmas. I embroidered gorgeous panels for a quilt and I have it finished except for the quilting and binding. I used all blues and white. It has the wording Over the River and Through the Woods to Grandmother’s house we go. One panel has a house out in a snowy field with fences and trees (Granny’s place) and the top panel has a family in a sleigh going over a stone bridge over a river…Lots and lots of trees! Took me 3 winters to embroider and 1 winter to piece the other parts and sew the rows together. Not sure how I want it quilted yet. The original was in browns/blacks but I’m so happy I used blues because it looks snowy and icy. Love the Christmas pillows.

It’s very beautiful Shirley! Love the bedding and the pillows. It’s nice to mix things up for a change. I’ve used my redwork quilt every year since I made it and I almost used the back side this year for a change. May do next. Love it, but need a change. Merry Christmas!
    hugs,
    Jann
