The last room I decorated was the Media Room simply dressed for Christmas.
Using Holiday pillows which can be taken into the Winter months,
and a few things here and there to give the room a festive look.
A monogrammed fur trimmed pillow and fur throw (Pottery Barn) give the brown leather sofa
a bit of a punch and added texture.
A reproduction Santa on the tray with vintage books and accessories.
I love to use my Vintage Charles Dickens books throughout the year,
and especially at Christmas.
More Wintery themed pillows on the chairs.
I placed both real and faux birch branches in the antique French gathering basket,
that I originally had in the Great Room. However, it seemed a bit too busy
in the foyer, so it went down to the kitchenette area in the Media Room.
A great carved swan from friends many years ago, vintage grain sacks,
and one of my favorite ribbon banner sits on top of the antique pie safe.
This is a very comfortable room, yet we rarely use it.
The room gets used when we have a large crowd as there is lots of seating in this room.
A great room for TV or movie viewing with the surround sound.
Across from the seating/sofa area is the TV and fireplace flanked by bookcases.
I kept it really simple with a lush garland and some deer on the mantel.
The candlesticks seem to be a staple on the mantel.
In years past, I would hit the garden centers that carried high quality wreaths,
garlands, and Christmas decor, the day after Christmas for their super sales.
I would usually get these particular greenery items at 75% off.
Did you spy the red wreath in the above photo?
It is one that my friend Martha made. I told you that she was Martha Stewart’s clone!
Or maybe Martha Stewart is her clone.
Several years ago, my hubby hung grasscloth wallpaper
on the back of the bookcases. It really added great warmth and texture.
I got the thumbs up for keeping it simple … well, fairly simple in this room.
I am still doing lots of Holiday prep….need one more day of shopping for gifts,
and then meal planning, and hopefully some fun in-between.
Hope you are enjoying the week either “wrapping up” your Holiday preparations
or sitting back and enjoying what the Season of Joy brings to us.
I will be back to wish you Great Tidings of Joy later this week.
In the meantime…..Have a Very Merry Week!!
Oh!…and P.S. !! … All of the above photos were taken by one of my
Christmas presents … my new iPhone 7 Plus … it takes amazing photos.
Thought I would put down my DSLR yesterday and play with my new phone!

Your media room looks cozy! The red wreaths are beatiful. I’m wrapping gifts today and have some meal planning and groceries to get. Otherwise I’m ready.
Wishing you and your family a Very Merry Christmas!
I like the simplicity as I went very simple as well this year. Love the grasscloth on the back of the shelves for texture. I would watch movies on that t.v. with the surround sound and save the money we spend at the theater.
Shirley, your media room looks like such a warm and inviting place to visit. I love all the pops of red, but I adore red as much as I do blue. I am swooning over your red chair. I have been looking for one like that. I hope that you are enjoying your week! Merry Christmas!!!
I love your media room and you have decorated it beautifully once again. I am just about finished my shopping, have one more gift to buy and all my gifts that I have are wrapped and under the tree. Whew! We are hosting this year!!! First time in this house, so excited! Have a very merry week my friend!! XO
Beautiful! The perfect place to curl up and watch a movie or read a good book. I especially like the tray with the books and lanterns and the little rocking chair in front of the fireplace-such wonderful details! Merry Christmas to you and you family!
What a cozy inviting space! Wow! That phone does take great pictures!
Leave it up to you to use less to make a room pop! I can hardly wait to see what you’ve done, because you do amazing work with everything you touch. I am just about finished with my shopping, but I still have to buy groceries for our Christmas brunch. I will be making a Christmas breakfast casserole that Yvonne from Stonegable shared and my mom’s fruit salad. I’m trying to keep the meal simple. Shirley, you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
This is such a great space…all the touches are beautiful! I am nowhere near done…too much left to do, so some things will have to give.
Beautiful Shirley. Everything looks so warm and inviting!
The house looks lovely and ready for Christmas – the red wreath is striking – Merry Christmas!
Beautiful room…nice and simple! I only have one more present to buy…and then some wrapping. Roast ordered….just need to pick up on Friday. Hope you get your shopping done! 😉
Shirley, your media room is perfectly festive, hopefully for some family relaxation! Wishing you and your sweet hubby and all your family a wonderful and Merry Christmas!
You know, Shirley, you should just leave all your Christmas decor in place as each of your rooms is so inviting. I’d like to be snuggling under your furry throw with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book. Instead, I must go to my studio and finish the blanket I am weaving for Christmas.
Shirley,
I want to curl up on that couch with that beautiful throw and watch a great Christmas movie. So pretty and comfy down in your media room. Merry Christmas.
xxoo,
Kris

This is such a beautifully layered room! Also cozy and inviting!! Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas, Shirley.
Cheers

The media room looks lovely… Not too many decorations, but enough too make it festive…
