Last week, I traveled to D.C. with my hubby
and made an impromptu trip to Pennsylvania
to meet my friend Mary Alice for some shopping and lunch.
We did more talking than shopping,
but each of us managed to come out with some treasures.
Did you notice anything different in the above photo?
Yes, the treasures that I came home with are the two French prints.
They replaced the heavily framed bird print.
I love how the two prints fill the space so much better than the single framed print
and lightening up the area too.
The French prints were originally framed in a gold and green marble-like frame,
not a great fit for the colors in the room.
I grabbed my Rub ‘n Buff and transformed the frame.
It is hard to capture a photo of a print behind glass in this house,
as there is sunlight/reflections bouncing everywhere in the room.
The artist is Claude Ducollet.
I did not buy a print when I traveled to France,
so these finds were happy ones!
If you are wondering where the bird print went . . .
It took the place of a mirror over the table that is in the guest room hallway.
Now where do I put that mirror?!!!
Another project for another day!
And speaking of day, I wish you a most beautiful one!!!

Oh, I love those paintings. So perfect and sigh….the little brass lamp under the bird print. Now, that is my kind of lamp!

What lovely paintings! They look great hanging in that space. And don’t you just love rub n’ buff? It’s like an old friend. I’m getting ready to do a project with it too.
Shirley, your French prints are beautiful and look wonderful in their new spot. I also love where you placed the bird print, and I am adoring the lamp below the bird print. Is that a tole lamp? I hope that you have a beautiful day too!!!

Great find! And they are gorgeous….especially now that you’ve enhanced the frames. I think they look perfect there. And I agree with Kim….I love that cute lamp under the bird pic! 😉
Sounds like a fun trip. I love the prints! Two is definitely better than one. The close-up really shows the talent of the artist and the detail. Also, I think the gold frames look nice on your yellow walls. I enjoy “visiting” your home. It feels so comfortable!
Wishing you a beautiful day, too, Shirley!
Love your prints! I recently purchased two Italian engravings that were hand colored for our new house. I am looking forward to being able to hang them, once it gets built lol.

The prints look charming and you are right about them filling the space. I think the gold frames look just right too. Now the hall looks so good!! What a great domino effect with win wins all around! I’d love to hear more about Mary Alice!
Beautiful. I like be those prints. Thanks for sharing.
Love the prints. You really know the places to shop. One question? How do you handle all the nail holes when switching things around.? By the way, I love your blog.
Those prints of France are beautiful and so charming! The second one also looks like Paris. Love the changes, Shirley! Always fun bringing new pieces home, and moving “things” around 🙂
Any signs of spring yet? My snowdrops are blooming!!

Your new prints are beautiful. I keep hearing about Rub n Buff but have never used it and will have to go find some. You have given me an idea to move some artwork around here. Guess what I bought today? A beautiful, big cyclamen:):) It is so pretty. Now if I can keep it alive!!!

Wherever you go you find treasures. The prints are a perfect complement for other treasures you have and the bird looks happy in iota new setting.
My mom would definitely love this. She mentioned, she is seeking for antique shop near the city. I would recommend this to her.
