We all make decorating mistakes … mishaps …
that, “why did I do that?” kind of thing.
Well, the other day I featured my little sunroom makeover.
I happened to be looking at the photos in the post and gasped.
A Decorating Blooper ! ….. you know, just like those shows that feature Bloopers and Blunders?
Well I certainly blooped and blundered.
First, I will you show you how I corrected my Blooper.
Notice anything different?
I changed out the lamp. The previous lamp was not to scale.
It was too tall!….as you can see by the image below.
I wanted a lamp with a black shade to pull more black into the room.
I hastily placed one on the potting bench. It looked OK then,
but when you back up and take a look ….. super Blooper and Blunder!
I then remembered I had a smaller lamp on the Secretary in the Master Bedroom.
So much better and within the scale of the area. Whew!
While I was at it, correcting my Blooper … the sunroom got pinked!
White roses were replaced with pink roses in the gold watering can.
I brought out my personalized pink ribbon that was gifted to us a few years ago
by friends Lucy and Charlie . . . . yes Lucy and Charlie . . . .
has to be the cutest couple names ever, and they are.
White ribbon was replaced by the pink personalized ribbon.
When I was looking at the Blooper picture,
I also noticed that the French Market Basket needed a little more embellishing.
So I added a beautiful scarf that my friend Linda had bought in Italy and
gifted to me. It is beautiful and yes, I have worn it with a great pink sweater.
But you have to admit, the scarf does look pretty in the basket!
I bought some great pink flowers this past weekend
including some pink Calla Lily plants.
I repotted this one into this moss container and wrapped the stalks
with the pink personalized ribbon.
A pink cyclamen was also added to “pink” the sunroom,
replacing the African Violet.
Along with the Great Room, the Sunroom got “pinked” just in time for
Valentine’s Day too.
My hubby and I will be celebrating our 48th Valentine’s Day together.
Now remember …. we have known each other since the 2nd Grade! 🙂
I wish you all a most beautiful Valentine’s Day
celebrating with the ones you love!!

Whew, that was a close one! I’m glad you fixed that blooper. Ha! Love the added pinks and Happy Valentine’s Day!
Happy Valentines Day!
Blessings,
Cindy
Happy Valentine’s Day to you on your 48th anniversary! Totally missed the lamp..I was focused on the black table…hehe…I always advise friends when decorating to take a pic to see what the eye misses! Learned that tip when I started quilting!
But you have such a great decorating sense you would have caught it sooner or later! So nice tho that you share your bloopers cuz we all have them….thank goodness it was only a lamp…hehehe….❤️❤️❤️
I have always been one to take pictures when decorating. I think they allow you to do just that, step back and see if things are “right”.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and yours, and Happy Anniversary!!
It’s funny but I find taking photographs of spaces I’ve styled really shows clearly what doesn’t work. I love how you fixed your “blooper”!
Happy Valentine’s Day! (and I can’t believe you’ve spent 48 together!!!!!) xox
Only you would consider that such a blooper! I surely didn’t catch it! But, it does look better with the shorter lamp & the other changes you made. Just the icing on the cake, doncha know~
Congratulations on your 48th Valentine’s Day with your sweetie pie! You even have me beat… I didn’t meet my Mr. Right until the 10th grade…we’ve been married 44 years and dated two years before getting married right after high school graduation! What can I say, the holes in my head fit the rocks in his….we complete each other. LOL! In June it’ll be 45 years…
Congrats Denise on your 45th!!!!
I would not call this a blooper, more of a little blip. Very easy to fix. Your room looks pretty, and the sunshine streaming in makes the room look very cozy and bright.
Shirley, I didn’t even notice the blooper in your original post. I was admiring all of your beautiful things and didn’t even notice it. The scarf you placed in the basket is beautiful and the colors look so pretty with your touches of pink. Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
Shirley, the blooper totally escaped my eye…I was smitten with the chinoiserie table…I do love the addition of pink and the gorgeous scarf that Linda gave you!
I didn’t notice the little blip but do like the shorter lamp. I am loving the pinks in here too! That ribbon is so sweet. Happy Valentine’s day to you and Tom. I KNOW he will do something wonderful for you. We are going out to dinner but no other plans. This will be our 50th Valentines together!!! OMGoodness!
wow Pinky…have you two been married for 50 years?!!….Congrats!!!
It will be 50 in Nov. but we have had 50 Valentine’s:)
Never even noticed your blooper…but I see the difference now. Guess I was too busy looking at the flowers! Enjoy your day…48? Wow! 😉
You know…you could’ve have blooped, and then blooped some more and ever blundered a thousand times and I never would never catch it! LOL! But, now that I see it, I understand. I get eye-candy and an education when I visit:) Number 48, eh? That’s AWESOME, Shirley! Have a wonderful day!
Your sunroom is always gorgeous and inspiring! Funny how looking at photographs makes us see things we otherwise wouldn’t notice. Love all the pink touches you’ve brought in, so pretty. Have a wonderful Valentine’s week!
How awesome, 48 Valentines. Enjoy the day . Like the new lamp
Cindy
I honestly didn’t notice the blooper, but the shorter lamp does look nice in the grouping. And I love the soft pink accents you’ve added throughout your home. I like your use of brass throughout too. A lot of people have gotten away from brass, but you make it look fresh and modern. Have a great day! Heather
I didn’t notice the taller lamp but yes, the shorter one is perfect. Happy Anniversary to you and your husband!
Your rooms look fabulous despite any “bloopers” you (think you) might have. Happy 48th Valentine’s Day with your sweetie!
Love a black lampshade! I’ve found I have to walk away from a “newly fluffed” space for a bit and then revisit it to catch any bloopers — sometimes more than once. Good catch there!
xo Heidi
Happy ❤️ Day to a great couple! I never noticed your blooper as I was too busy looking at other pretty things! Love all your flowers and splashes of pink!
C0ngratulations on 48 yrs knowing your Valentine! You two make a Sweet couple! I didn’t notice the tall lamp, I was admiring the table. Happy Valentine’s Day
Happy Valentine’s Day. How special to know your husband since 2nd grade. If you hadn’t told on yourself I would have never noticed your blooper. The room looks great.
You’re cracking me up girl, sot glad that blooper got fixed. Wouldn’t want to see you on a what not to do blog post some where. LOL Happy V’d to you and your hubby 🙂
I never noticed! It just goes to show you, even your bloopers are pretty if not to scale. I love the eye candy in this room so much! I guess that is why I never noticed. The lamp replacement is lovely! Lovely couple too!
Well, that wasn’t too bad of a blooper but it do like it better with the shorter lamp :-). I always enjoy seeing this room. I’d be puttering with it a lot just for the fun of it!
I hope you had a great Valentine’s Day! 48 years is wonderful!
Hope you had a Happy Valentine’s Day and I love your personalized ribbon! Like Shannon I hadn’t even noticed your “blooper” 🙂 I know I have caught things later myself in my photos that I hadn’t noticed when I was “in the zone” and photographing!
How wonderful to celebrate 48 years together! Absolutely love your decorating skills!
Everything looks so pretty… Happy Valentine’s Day…
