The Guest Room Bath Changes and Day 99

While I was doing some things in the Guest Room Bath,

I realized that I did not show you some of the Guest Room Bath changes

that were done a few months ago! Better late than never!

I realized that, when I was removing many personal sized soap, shampoos, etc.

from 2 drawers in the vanity,

to accomplish my 99 items for donation or trash.

There’s a new table in town.

A mirrored top, faux metal bamboo tray table from Soft Surroundings.

It was on sale when I purchased it, and I believe it is no longer available

as I no longer see it on the site.

This guest bath has no windows, so the light can be a challenge.

The guest bath is actually a private bath in the guest room.

What little natural  light that pours into that room

is from the guest room french doors and windows.

I tend to use faux greenery in this room due to the light;

however, the faux greenery is usually replaced when guests are coming.

I like to place pretties in this room,

such as the vintage silver brush and comb set that I have had for many years.

A bottle of mouthwash, a bottle of bath salts, a candle and diffuser

for my guests convenience.

I recently added a magnifying mirror…..a convenience for my guests

who are mainly 50 and over! 🙂

A hair dryer, a roll of paper towels, and amenities,

such as a shower cap, shoe mitt, mending kit are kept under the sink.

A ironing board and iron are in the guest closet.

Two drawers in this vanity were filled with personal sized soaps, shampoos, etc.

You know the type that you get from the hotels.

Time to let them all go. I told my hubby that unless the products are Bvulgari or Hermes,

no need to bring anything home! 🙂

Toiletries donation-Housepitality Designs

There were 118 of these items that were able to be donated.

I have a friend who works with a charity that welcomes these personal size toiletries.

So this is my Day 2 of 99 things to donate or trash. These will all be donated.

And on another note, I came across this fabric on sale for $5.00/yard.

So this chair just may get a refresh!

I am now working on Day 3 of 98 things to donate or trash.

Hope you all had a wonderful Holiday weekend …. Have a most beautiful day!

  11. Your guest bath is beautiful Shirley!I love all the pretty accessories. My husband traveled for a few years with his job and we brought home all the soaps, shampoos, etc from all the hotels he stayed in. We donated them to our church and they were given to someone who had a homeless ministry.

  12. I love the way you think of your guest with all of the thoughtful touches. I especially love the magnifying mirror. After visiting a sister last week, I realized I need to start carrying a small version in my luggage.

  13. You are giving me great ideas for the challenge, so thanks!!! I have a set of canisters in our bath that hold the small soaps, cotton balls, and q tips. Since moving here, I haven’t really liked them in our bath so I think I will donate the canisters and the items, well the soaps anyway. I keep a platic zippered bag in my car with items for the homeless. I pass many on my travels for shopping etc. so I give them a bag of goodies. I learned that socks are the MOST wanted and needed item. Sometimes I buy several pairs at the dollar store for this purpose. Now, I wish I could be your guest, this bath is beautiful! Your guests are pampered for sure. I love the new table and the silver brush and comb! Have a beautiful day.

  14. Wow…you really take great care of your guests. I do believe you’ve thought of everything! Keep up the good work on purging. It is amazing all that we tend to bring back from our trips, isn’t it? 😉

  15. You are inspiring me to purge more. I had the same things going in the trash when we moved. It is amazing how quickly those little items mount up. Thank you for your sweet comment on my recent blog post, you are always so complimentary, I really appreciate the time you take to comment! Keep up the good work and maybe, just maybe it will rub off on me!

  16. Such a thoughtful hostess…the bathroom is just lovely. I agree on the magnifying mirror. In our Florida rental house we have magnifying mirrors in both bathrooms – it makes me feel good when guests feel comfortable…it’s obvious you feel the same. 🙂

Love your decorating style and blog. Wondering the color of paint in your master bedroom and bath. Please share.

  21. Lovely items in your guest bathroom.

I had so many of the bath items too when I traveled. Some of them really good, especially from Hyatt and Renaissance Hotel. I am sure they now put cheaper products in due to the cost of items.

I know your guests will feel like they are very special.

Have a great rest of the week.

  22. The black and white fabric looks like one I could have made. If you use it for upholstery, it needs to be backed otherwise it looks like it would ravel under stress. Nice touches for your guests. They are always so welcoming.

  23. Like visiting a 5 star hotel. beautiful.

  24. Your guest bathroom is so lovely, Shirley. A beautiful oasis for your guests. You know I adore that green French pitcher. And the sweet metal bamboo tray reminds me of my French flower tray…such a great addition.

  25. The mirror table is fantastic and particularly like the perfume bottle with the white flower. I am sure many people will treasure your donations…
