We have been experiencing unusual warmer temps here
and many flowers and trees are blooming.
I am sure this warming trend will not last,
however; I thought it was time to get
The Great Room Refreshed for Spring.
I wanted the color of blue to remain as an accent color in the room
and I also wanted a lighter feel, so I chose to add some lighter shades of blue
and some birds on the table for that touch of Spring.
I was so happy to see Irises at Trader Joe’s,
so that became my “flower of the room” in addition to the
pink cyclamen that were already in the room and were not ready to leave! 🙂
After placing the irises in the room, I decided that
I need to buy more and place them in more rooms.
They are a bargain at $3.99 a bunch.
I have a pair of the birds on a limb vases,
so irises went in the other vase and placed on the sofa table.
I gathered all the pillows that I thought would work in the room
for my Spring Refresh. I had darker blue pillows more than the lighter ones
in my stash. So I headed to Pottery Barn with rewards bucks in hand
during their sale and purchased a pair of the new Herringbone design pillows.
A darker shade of a blue pillow remains on the bench
as it coordinates perfectly with the grain sack cushion.
I actually began the Great Room Spring Refresh
with the light blue and cream checked pillows.
The Chinoiserie pillows that were on the Master Bedroom sofa
were a great compliment to the blue and cream checked pillows.
Small changes to the mantel. Added the blue and white ginger jars
and removed the magnolia wreath.
Adding the lighter shade of blue and bringing in the birds
certainly helped create a refreshed look for Spring.
In the coming days of Spring, the room can continue to be refreshed
just by replacing the flowers.
Flowering plants are certainly a great way to have those pretty blooms longer.
I just completed by Day Three of 100 Days of Letting Go. (97 items)
87 magazines (some very old Romantic Homes) and 10 old calendars.
I have 3 more boxes of magazine to go through!!!
Yes I saved the calendars … crazy I know, but I did save the calendar of the
year we moved into our house, which was also my granddaughter’s birth year.
Yes, we closed on our new home the day that my sweetie was born!
I am working on more rooms in the house for their Spring Refresh.
I wish you a most beautiful day and hope it includes enjoying some Spring blooms!
