Tidbits of Spring in the Kitchen

Hope you all enjoyed your First Day of Spring yesterday.

I have been traveling and a bit in the vacation mode.

While my hubby holds down the fort, I will be visiting my mom while

my brother and sister-in-law are away, as she lives with them,

so my posts may be a bit sporadic the next couple of weeks

and will include some happenings with my mom.

Good thing she does not mind getting in front of the camera.

Today, I shall bring you some Tidbits of Spring in the Kitchen.

For some time now, the ironstone pitchers against the background of the breadboard

seem to be a staple on one of the counters in the kitchen.

It’s so easy to change the look by adding seasonal flowers.

I had purchased Calla Lily plants and as the flowers were getting pretty tall,

I cut them off the plant and placed them in the ironstone pitcher.

I was pleasantly surprised on how long the flowers last in water.

I love using Cyclamen in the Winter and Spring.

This Cyclamen sits in a vintage ironstone mold on stacks of ironstone bowls

which are balanced on a vintage scale.

Another flower that I love in my home for Spring is the Hyacinth.

This one is potted in a blue and white container that I purchased

from a local garden center that had a great variety of the blue and white flower pots.

I seldom take photos of the sink as I find it hard with the large bay window

in the background. However, in speaking to a professional photographer last week,

I found out how I can solve that problem. I’m on it!

I used my blue and white bunny container/bucket for a planter this year.

It sits on the top shelf of my vintage baker’s rack … another Martha treasure.

Now that the kitchen wears its pretty face for Spring, that seems

to complete the Spring decor for this year. However, as you know,

things are always changing around this house.

I shall leave you today with the quote on the tea towel that hangs on the baker’s rack,

from the wise Mr. Carson of Downton Abbey.

“If you’re tired of style, you’re tired of life!”

Have a beautiful day filled with great style!

Love your vignette with the callas and your pretty ironstone pieces. I love the cutting board, too. Your entire kitchen looks so fresh and perky for spring.
Tell us what the photographer said about the light and how to solve that.
Ehjoy your visit with your mother.

Love the ending quote- how true!! The flowers are perfect with the breadboard. Love your big farm sink. I hope you have a grey time staying with your mom. My sister’s take care of my mom and every so often they have to shift duties due to one or the other’s schedules.

Your kitchen is so pretty dressed for Spring! I never noticed (or missed) your pretty pineapple down- lights over your kitchen sink. I’ve seen loads of lighting with pineapples, but never any like those. Pineapples, just as those all around your house, show such southern hospitality. Enjoy time with your Mom!

I am so familiar with your love of blues that the pops of pink were totally unexpected. Very nice vignettes, my dear. Enjoy your time away.
