This past weekend I traveled to Richmond, Virginia where my hubby had a tournament.
Yes, tis the season and let the games begin!
I had the over the moon pleasure of meeting up with a fellow blogger friend,
Lisa of Celebrate Creativity.
Many of you may already know Lisa. Lisa with such amazing talent in so many things
which includes jaw dropping photography.
Lisa picked me and my friend Merry up from the hotel where we were staying
and took us to a most charming shop of vintage and all things beautiful.
The shop was named Gather. Originally, it was a General Store (The Hallsboro Store)
that was built in 1850, in Midlothian, Virginia.
I was totally taken back by the wonderful items in the shop.
Items from vintage to reproduction, to amazing original art,
fantastic clothing, (of which Merry and I bought) and
pretty much all things beautiful for the home.
The gorgeous original artwork was created by the owner, Melissa Carr.
The above photo was taken from the upstairs window.
Beautiful grounds of which many weddings are held.
The day was definitely a bit dreary with rain off and on.
I had no idea that I would be taking photos that day . . .
so the trusty iPhone had to do.
I could not leave without quickly taking some photos…..and quickly I did!
Fabulous chalkboard art created by the owner.
This was the menu from a rehearsal dinner at the “Gather”
This area is where we spent lots of time.
Beautiful clothes and I must say that I bought every color they had
in leggings with the exception of one. As my friend Merry said, they feel like butter!
They were soooo comfy and a bargain at $13.00 !!!
A table of wonderful soaps …. You can find great French soap in those containers.
I just realized that I forgot to go back to that area and get some soap!
Loved the pink French soap!
As you come up the stairs (yes, the shop has two floors of treasures),
you will see a vignette of sleepwear, pillows, throws,
and one of the beautiful paintings by the owner, Melissa Carr.
How wonderful is this “Bakery” sign! .. wish I had a place for it!
Beautiful things for your dining and kitchen needs.
Each room had so much to take in … beauty everywhere.
Speaking of beauty….take a look at this gorgeous wall of flowers!
Would have loved one of these vintage dress forms,
however, we drove the wrong vehicle on this trip.
I think that may have been done on purpose!
And . . . I spy things in these photographs that I did not notice
when I was there! I find that happens to me quite frequently!
Now after hours of shopping and touring this incredible shop,
we had to take a break and sit a spell on the front steps.

It was truly a wonderful day of shopping and friendship!
I will be very busy this week preparing for a major yard sale this weekend,
purging things from every nook and cranny of this house to get ready for “downsizing.”
Wishing you all a most beautiful day! It has been non-stop rain here for days!

Such a cute shop filled with everything. Love the market bags. The Bakery sign is sold everywhere and my sister has one. I love the open sign!
what a sweet place!! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Shirley, I think you captured the sweetness of this shop perfectly. I’ll let Melissa know you featured her here.
Thanks again for being such a fun hunting and gathering partner. I’m glad Merry enjoyed the day too. Looking forward to future meetups in my area and your neck of the woods too.
Have a wonderful week!
Looks like quite a treasure trove Shirley! Love the name and that wall of flowers!
What a great shop! It’s so wonderful you could go shop together…I wish we would’ve had the time to do that. So many things I would want to take home from that store.

What a wonderful place to shop! I saw several things that I would have had to bring home with me! Good luck with your yard sale. Having a yard sale is hard work! Wish I lived closer, I would love to shop!!
How fun you got to meet up with Lisa! That shop looks amazing. I was laughing about the wrong car comment…then you mentioned having to get ready for the yard sale and down sizing…Yep, that wrong car was on purpose 🙂
I love the name of this place and it IS filled with treasures! Joe and I may have to take a little trip! I saw the picture of the 3 of you last night on Lisa’s blog, since you featured her cake on FB! Her photos ARE amazing! OMGoodness! I spied a scale that I might have bought;) I sure wish I could be at your yard sale!!!! Take pictures, please!!!! We are now getting your rain. Have a beautiful day!
What a wonderful shop, one I could spend the day in easily. Looks like you had a great time with your friends.
Looks like fun and a wonderful shop. Love the name of the shop and I especially love the Open sign. The Richmond area is loaded with treasures. I lived for many years in Va. Beach – a stones throw away.
Looks like a fun shop…such variety! Good luck with the purging….hope the rain stops for the sale! 😉
One of the advantages of following the “boys of summer” to their games…you meet special friends and discover incredible shops! Thanks for sharing!
Shirley, oh. my. This looks like just the kind of shop I adore…and you went shopping with the darling Lisa!! So lucky to meet her in person, I love when blogging friends became real life friends. I am sure the three of you had the best ever time. One day…hoping your travels take you here to California! xo Lidy
ooooh, great shop. thanks for taking us along. I did a double take with that arm sticking out of the wall with flowers!
Shirley, It seems you had a perfect day. The rain here in Northern Virginia has made for dreary weather but I keep reminding myself that we need it! You have mentioned cleaning out and downsizing like so many of my friends (and my reluctant self) and I can’t help but wonder if you have something particular in mind. It does seem to be a reoccurring theme for many of us! Hope you are getting more accomplished than I am!
Oh, what a beautiful shop. I bet you can spend hours browsing and trying to decide what to buy.
I’ve been thinking about you and wondering how you are doing with all the rain down there. I understand Raleigh is in pretty bad shape and charlotte too.
This shop looks absolutely amazing, and that flower wall just blew me away!
I’m decluttering for the same reason Shirley. I have some catching up to do on your blog…are you moving soon?

Shirley, that is a shop to linger in for sure. Beautiful clothing and home decor placed in one shop means an all day visit. So nice to meet up with blogging friends. Wishing you a very successful yard sale’
Wow! What an amazing quaint shop…
This looks like such a fun shop! I just love the chance to meet up with blogging friends and have been so fortunate to meet lots of people here in Texas.
Can’t wait to see your downsizing process. It’s fun!!
Thanks for the tour. I am from Richmond and my family lives in Midlothian.
What a small world.
Oh I would be tempted by so many things…what a treasure trove!
Oh my soul I have just found you on the computer no wonder we have the same name you like the same things I like. Art art art, vintage all things Beautiful. Happy Mothers Day
