Hello everyone! You are in for a treat today as I am happy to share with you,
Matthew Mead’s new publication (by Country Sampler), ” Upstyled Home Outdoors”
As soon as I received this issue in the mail from Matthew,
I could not wait to sit down and browse through the many articles
of beautiful gardens, patios, porches and as the cover states,
200 ideas for making outdoor spaces livable and lovable.
Let me take you through some beautiful pages and a sneak peek of
amazing inspiration of outdoor living and creative designs.
I love this vintage wooden ice cream bucket shown below, filled with gorgeous Delphinium
and Corn Tassel. The Corn Tassel and ice cream bucket brings back a memory
of my dad. The” Corn Tassel” : . . . . My dad was a Iowa farm boy . . .
born and raised on a farm in Iowa which of course had corn fields.
Many kids held summer jobs de-tasseling corn.
Wait! . . . there is more to the story!
A long time ago, my sisters and I along with our hubbies went antiquing one day while we
were visiting my parents. My brother-in-law bought what he was told was a rare
wooden bucket. He could not wait to show my dad.
When he so proudly showed my dad his treasure of a rare antique wooden bucket,
my dad burst into laughter! “Rare wooden bucket? …. who told you that?!!”
“The dealer”, my brother-in-law replied. Lots more laughter from my dad!
“Well,” my dad said between bouts of laughter,
“That rare wooden bucket that you have in your hand is an ice cream bucket!!”
. . . . . more laughter with tears.
Now, I thought it looked like an old ice cream bucket,
but who am I to burst my brother-in-law’s excitement of his rare find.
Good thing my brother-in-law has a good sense of humor …. like my dad.
I do not think my dad ever let him live that down.
I think he still may be laughing in heaven, telling the angels the story
of the rare wooden bucket.
One of the great features in the Upstyled Home Outdoors magazine,
is that of Amy Chalmers’, of the beautiful blog, Maison Decor.
Amy’s amazing backyard makeover happened
with the help of Amy’s hubby’s skill of excavating and turning
an unusable area into a wonderful canvas in which Amy could work her magic to design.
She executed her dreams into a beautiful backyard oasis!
A backyard situated in New England with a French flair.
Meet pretty Amy:
A backyard oasis that is so wonderful that it made the cover.
