Where has Spring gone?
The older I get, the more I tend to savor each season,
as they go by so quickly. So in a blink of an eye, Spring has passed us by
and Summer is here.
Therefore . . . . Let the summer decorating begin.
For some reason I always start in the sunroom.
I went to the attic and gathered my summer/coastal decor.
Aisle 2 … Shelf number 3. 🙂
I am proud to say that I totally shopped the house and attic to
transform the Sunroom from Spring to Summer, using lots of cool blues and greens.
The candle from the Pagoda lantern was removed
and filled the the glass container with shells, mainly from my travels.
The scarf in the French market basket was replaced with another of
pretty summer colors. The bouquet of lavender remains
along with one of my new favorite magazines, “Flower”.
I can always count on the fragrance of the wonderful lavender
and always picking up fallen buds from the floor!
For me, summer means hydrangeas blooming in my yard.
I have lots of buds, and only one bloom, so off to Trader Joe’s
to get some hydrangeas for the room.
A large shell that my Sweetie brought home from a trip to the beach
is always on my desk. This summer, it is displayed more predominately in the room.
I love the colors of the ocean of the greens and blues in the Suzani pillows
from Pottery Barn that I purchased a couple of years ago.
Summer is the perfect time to use sea glass in your decor.
I must admit . . . this sea glass is not collected from the beach,
but from the shelves of Pottery Barn.
Vintage blue bottles are the perfect compliment to the sea glass.
Months and months ago, I purchased a Baldwin brass bowl
from my favorite consignment shop, and it is making its debut today
with a boxwood sphere/topiary.
An ironstone bowl with velvety moss balls sits on top of a vintage stool.
I placed the chippy vintage stool specifically in front of the potting bench
to break up the sea of green in that area and add some interest and texture.
Loving the change from from the Sunroom Spring decor of the bright and cheery colors
of the pillows in blues, yellows and greens to the cool blues and greens of summer.
I have been a little absent from my blog and social media lately
due to 3 trips in a 2 week period and being home for just one day between trips.
Needless to say it has been a bit exhausting for these old bones.
But must say that it was great to be able to see my mom on one of these trips
and on the last trip, my sisters. Went to Florida to attend my nephew’s graduation.
Here I am with my sisters: AKA, The Standley Sisters.
Oh boy, do I look tired!…It was a very stressful 13 hours of driving that day,
but worth it. Can you tell that we are sisters? We were always referred to as , The Standley Sisters.
On another note: Have you entered my giveaway of the book, “Beautiful” by Mark D. Sikes?
If not, there is still time to win this book HERE. The giveaway ends June 6th, 2017.
Have a most beautiful day! I will be engaging in more summer decorating.
Have you begun yours?

The room looks cool and fresh in its summer blues. You did a fabulous job just from shopping what you had on hand. I have not heard of that magazine. My hydrangea bush has exploded this year again and I need to go out and cut some blooms to bring inside before the sun burns them.

What a beautiful summer decor with the blues and greens! I also love how you used the pagoda lantern filled with shells for a summer look. I bet your attic is a treasure trove!
I love the transformation of the Pagoda Lantern! I thought it was beautiful with a candle, but it truly has a summery, beach feel now…the look you were aiming for! ?
Always love your sunroom…it’s a happy place. No buds on my hydrangeas yet…still too early I guess. We’ve had a cool spring. You really do look like sisters. Now…rest up! 😉
So lovely, especially on a ‘June Gloom’ morning. Just wondering, how big is your attic that you have Aisle 2???
I love the picture of you and your sisters. Your sun room looks like the perfect cool and refreshing spot to spend a hot summer day. I love all the shades of blue and green.

in your house; hope you have a sunroom in your new house!
What a beautiful blog post to wake up to. Our weather in Minnesota is breathtaking. I am so ready for summer.
I’m curious about the Flower magazine. Have not seen that here in Minnesota. Can you share who the publisher is so I can pursue:)
You certainly do look like sisters:)
You are so right about spring seemed to fly by. Loving the summer decor. I would definitely say you all do resemble each other. What a beautiful group you are.
Yes, I can tell you are sisters! A friend introduced and gifted me with a Flower magazine subcription, love it and your coastal summer touches in your sunroom 🙂

Shirley: Beautiful post! I love all your colors and your sun room is just lovely. I am especially fond of your toile window treatments, toile always tells such a story.
You have inspired me. Our sun room is small and one wall is book shelves. I started last week purging the books (hard for me) and your post has given me a nudge to keep on keeping on !
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!
ps. Love the photo of you and your sisters – great that you had time with them.
I think your sunroom (next to your bedroom ceiling!), is my favorite room in your home.
It’s still a bit chilly here, so we haven’t quite gotten the ‘summer’ bug yet, but it’s just around the corner :).

Great picture of you and your sisters. You don’t look tired at all but after 13 hours of driving I know you were.
Love your summer embellishments in your sunroom.
You inspired me to get out my shells and start adding summer touches. Summer is here. The humidity is over the top here in south Alabama.

Beautiful refreshing decor. Ideas I will definitely refer to! I had the pleasure of meeting the editor of Flower Magazine last Dec., and she is a delightful lady, Her name, Margot Shaw. Flower magazine is so pretty and her own musings with her Rose Bush articles will leave you laughing, and connecting with her. What a beautiful family you have. Hope you get time to enjoy your decorating creations, and as always thanks for sharing.
I’m new to housepitality designs , but I love touches
of oriental pieces. Could you please share where you
Came across the coffee table?
Happy Summer and Happy New Week. Love this room and all your pretties in it. Glad you had a great time with all your sisters.
Hugs,
Kris

This is my first visit to your page and it’s lovely. I think the black table in your sunroom is so beautiful. Can you tell me a bit about it and where you got it? Thank you so much.
This post and your home are simply lovely. Cherished possessions and bits of new—make it so livable, I just want to curl up with an ice tea and a book on your little wicker couch. Thanks so much for something other than white, Sandi
