The First Summer Vignette That’s Slightly Coastal

In-between trips with the Boys of Summer,

I am refreshing my decor to reflect the season that crept upon us so quickly.

I began in the sunroom and added the pretties of summer. . . . of shells, sea glass,

and summer colors of soft blues and greens. If you missed my summer sunroom,

you can see it HERE.

In the meantime, today I am presenting the first Summer vignette that’s slightly coastal

in the Great Room.

From the sunroom, I moved into the great room, carrying over the colors

of soft blues.

Pillows of soft blues and white were placed on the sofa and the chairs.

Actually, the first accessory that I pull out for summer,

are my antique Japanese fishing floats that my mother gifted to me.

They make me happy. Not only because they are beautiful,

but knowing that my mom carefully packed these floats and carried them

on the plane returning home from Alaska after visiting her granddaughter who used to live there.

Hurricane-Sea glass-Housepitality Designs

I have a great stash of sea glass and love filling this hurricane

with the wicker base that I purchased a couple of years ago from French Laundry.

And what’s a summer vignette without beautiful hydrangeas?

Now these are from the pretty flower department of Trader Joe’s,

as my hydrangeas are just beginning to flower.

The pretty ceramic pineapple was a gift from my Sweetie years ago.

Another special thing on this table that makes me happy.

I returned  the breadboard back to the great room coffee table

to give a portion of the vignette a more collected feel.

A silver starfish was added (Pottery Barn) and a silver lidded monogrammed candle

joined this grouping to tie in with the silver starfish.

The ironstone piece that I am using as a vase for the hydrangeas

is a vintage apothecary jar that I found in France several years ago.

While shopping the attic, I found this distressed blue and white finial

that I bought from Hobby Lobby years ago….the perfect colors for the vignette.

I will continue to “summerize” this area and bring you the rest of the room this week.

In the meantime, have you entered my GIVEAWAY of the Mark D. Sikes book, “Beautiful”?

There is still time as the giveaway ends today, June 6th, 2017 at midnight.

Stay tuned on Wednesday for the giveaway winner.

Have a most beautiful summer day!

The floats are such a unique decorative element made even more special by their sentimental value. The sea glass works great with them. Very pretty vignette!

Beautiful table vignette! I was shocked to see your mantel bare! Everything speaks coastal…except for the boots and they do look out of place, but maybe it’s still a work in progress! ?
