More kitchen items have been packed away and stored.
Even though there were some things on the kitchen counters
that were items of convenience, like an ironstone pitcher filled with wooden spoons,
and cooking utensils. It was just one more item that I could place out of sight
and keep the counters with less stuff. So today we have more simply stated kitchen decor.
As you can see the kitchen is open to the Great Room. Our home has a very open plan.
These antique French enamelware canisters are remaining on the counter.
I acquired these from my sweet friend Mary Alice. They are not very large in size
and do not take up much room, so they will stay.
A colander that coordinates with the canister set is tucked in the corner
to hold our fresh fruit. Something that is a must in this household.
I used to house all of the fresh fruits and some veggies on my baker’s rack
that was at the end of the counter next to the sink and dishwasher. But this rack
has been stored away along with all the pretties that were displayed on it.
The soup tureen holds all of our chargers for our phones.
The opening in the soup tureen allows for the cord to be pulled out from the tureen
and plugged in the outlet…..the phone is hidden in the tureen while it charges.
A silver tray with my stack of ironstone dishes and an antique sugar bowl
sits at the end of the counter, which is about 10 feet long.
There is a bit of space on the silver tray designated for placing the mail which gets sorted
and put away quickly. You can see the sunroom in the background.
The kitchen is located between the great room and the sunroom.
A simple container of soap in an ironstone dish sits beside the faucet.
I must say that I will have another farmhouse/apron sink in my future home.
This sink was a must have. Why? … I wanted a very large sink
to bathe my granddaughter in! 12 years later, I remind her that she was once that little!
Speaking of farmhouse sinks….12 years ago, I do not believe those sinks were referred
to as farmhouse sinks…rather, apron sinks.
The copper pots that I acquired during my trip to France
were given a good cleaning and I just wish I had purchased more of them!
Next on the agenda, my bedroom. Stay tuned!
Have a great weekend!!
