Housepitality Designs

it's all about the hospitable home

“Fall”ing for Blue for Fall Decor

I am “fall”ing for blue for Fall decor this year.

I am doing this for two reasons.

One, because I love blue.

Two, because I need to keep my interiors simple in these days

of being in the process of selling our home.

I was able to visit a couple of Pottery Barn stores while I was in California

and I caught some great sales.

It’s a good thing that pillow covers do not take up much room  in your suitcase!

Pillow covers were on sale for 30% off and I took advantage of that sale while I was away

as I would have missed it if I had waited until I arrived home.

I am toning down the Fall decor and using Fall colors in flowers.

A trip to Trader Joe’s produced two orchids

that I placed in my blue and white cache pot.

I returned my antique French Boot forms to the hearth,

so they can be ready to be warmed by the fire in the months to come.

Several Boo pumpkins line up on mantel.

Velvet pumpkins sit atop my antique French bamboo mini table.

Just enough.

Ok….now back to some “pillow talk.”

The Robin Crewel pillow cover was not only on sale but on super clearance.

I have been eyeing this pattern for a while and was surprised to find a pair of these

in the Pasadena Pottery Barn store. Lucky me! They were 65% off!

The herringbone patterned pillows were already in my stash and

coordinated very well with the Robin Crewel pillows.

Hello pretty blue crewel pineapple pillow!

Between now and September, I may add a few additional fall decor items to this room

however, I am truly trying to keep the look pretty simple this year.

Transitioning the rooms from Summer to Fall decor will be pretty subtle this year.

However, I must admit, the colors I chose for the sunroom are not what I call

too subtle. They are a combination of colors that I used to wear in high school!

When I saw pillows in these colors, I knew they belonged in the sunroom.

I know that it is still the middle of August …. however, we bloggers pretty much

have to be ahead of the season to hopefully give you some great Fall inspiration.

I am anxiously awaiting for the Fall mums to hit the garden shops!

Now my front porch will  be off limits as far as adhering to my simplistic rules.

Cannot wait to fill it with pretty mums!!

Have a most beautiful day!!!

I’m ready to add fall, but it’s just too darn hot and sticky to think about decorating for it yet. Love your added blues and those pretty new pillows. Glad you could get them while away from home.

It all looks wonderful. Love the pillow covers. You are smart to keep the home simple and consistent in style. I’m sure it makes easier for a buyer to feel comfortable and imagine themselves in your space. I love getting mums- they add such a nice instant pop of color!

I love your early fall touches. They would work great for Florida too. In this heat and humidity right now all the rest of fall decor is not appealing!

The new pillows are great additions. The whole color scheme is toned down….which simplifies your home overall. Less to distract your eye. It’s too early for me to think about fall….but I am craving it! 😉

Shirley, it all looks so pretty! Such a great score on the pillow covers, they are perfect for your home, I’m so happy you were able to shop a little for things that actually fit in your suitcase! (Unlike the big antiques we saw!) Happy Fall, my beautiful friend.

It is gorgeous, and I know it will sell soon. We are still painting and unpacking. I hope to be back to blogging soon. Take care, and enjoy the rest of your week!

Shirley, everything looks so beautiful and refreshing as we always change everything. I love blue and white and incorporate it throughout my home and pineapples too. My mom had a pineapple door knocker I loved and I seemed to inherited that hospitality sign from her. It’s also the emblem on the entrance sign to our develop. Best of luck on selling your home. I am trying to start my own blog but seem like there is so much to do and not enough time. Angela

Everything always looks prettier with some blue I think. Your home ALWAYS looks beautiful. My favorite item in your home, bar none is the precious little French bamboo mini-table. If it ever needs a new home, I’m your girl!
I hope you are having a wonderful week!

I love the direction of your fall decor. I just can’t think about Fall yet. It is still in the 90’s during the day and dropping to a cool 80 degrees at night!

Loving all the blue! Not ready for fall yet, seems like we just started summer. We’ve had a wet one here. Mind you I did pick up a large pot of Sunflowers to go in my front urn when the time comes.Have a great day!

For some crazy reason I’m not getting your posts via email anymore! I’m going to have to unfollow and then re-follow to try to fix it. This has been going on with several blogs I follow, so it’s got to be something on my end…but I don’t know what. ?

If we could, we would buy your house in a heartbeat!!! It truly is one of the most gorgeous homes I have ever seen online. I’m sure it’s just as fab in person.

I’ve created a blue and white tablescape with the intent of trying to decide whether it will work with our interior. Looking at what you’ve done here, I’m even more encouraged. Thank you for that, my love!
