I have been eliminating some small pieces of furniture in each room of the house
to gain a less cluttered, cleaner look, staging the house to place it on the market.
Some pieces of furniture were sent to storage and some danced to the Furniture Shuffle.
A furniture shuffle for staging and simple fall touches occurred in the Media Room.
While I am still tweaking this room, I thought I would show you
one side of the room today.
I must be cautious with my seasonal decor these days,
so adding simple Fall touches using color and minimal accessories
is the appropriate thing to do.
Flowers in Fall colors will be added later.
In the meantime, stalks of wheat fit the bill.
An olive bucket of cotton stems reminds me of Fall in the South.
How about adding a few pheasant feathers to an arrangement of greenery
in a mint julep cup.
Now let’s talk about the furniture shuffle.
Previously there was a winged back recliner and a bergere chair in the room.
Those pieces were relocated and the chairs from the dining room were placed in the room.
These Ethan Allen Martha Washington chairs that I found at an estate sale a few years ago,
were recovered and placed in the bay window area of the dining room.
Later they were placed at each end of the dining room table.
Now they are here in the Media Room.
Normally, I would not have placed these chairs in this room,
as it functions as a room for TV viewing and casual activities.
However, to accomplish a cleaner, lighter look for staging purposes, it works.
As I have stated previously, I am still tweaking the bookcases
on each side of the fireplace on the other side of the room.
I thought I had it pretty much done, but when I stepped back
and squinted my eyes (a trick that I use), the bookcases still needed “thinning”
I have decided that I shall keep my antique pie safe
and either sell or consign the 50’s reproduction diner pub table and chairs.
I will have a full Fall Home Tour soon . . . when I join the some lovely ladies of
bHome for a bhome Fall Tour. I can guarantee you will get lots of wonderful
inspiration for all things Fall decor.
Have a great weekend! My thoughts and prayers are with the ones who are in the path
of Hurricane Harvey. I was a Florida girl most of my life and know how devastating
these storms can be. My friend Martha who recently moved to a town
a little north of Houston says they will be hunkered down and are prepared.
Her Meteorologist son keeps her very well informed.
Stay safe friends!

Love your fall tweaking and thinning! Your Martha Washington chairs are so neutral and classic, they can be used anywhere. Looking forward to the fall home tour (and fall)!
Looking good! All your changes are making everything look perfect for presentation! The fall touches are perfect- just enough! I imagine you are more than ready to list and sell!
Looking good and I love the two arm chairs there.
Looks great Shirley! The chairs look great in their new home. I love that olive bucket too. The room looks crisp and spacious, I’m sure your home won’t be on the market for long!
The media room looks great! Those chairs in there are perfect for the staging you are doing! I will be starting my Fall decor on Monday, as we will be having some friends here on Sat. night after we get back from all going out to dinner. Did you see my post about my party??? Have a beautiful weekend. Our weather is going to be gorgeous; high 70’s and no humidity! I plan to spend all of today at the pool:):)
Your tweaking and staging looks great! Yes, I was a Florida girl as well. Hurricanes can be devastating.
Shirley, your staging is so pretty! I love all the simple fall touches, I think the chairs look wonderful there. You are so good at the re-shuffle. Have a happy weekend! Xo Lidy
That hurricane is shaping up to be a real doozy, isn’t it? I phoned my (very handsome and sweet!) cousin who lives there in Houston yesterday and inquired about his safety. He seems to think he’ll be OK despite the unprecedented rainfall they’ve predicted. I sure hope so.
I like the tweaks, and I really like the dining chairs in there…even if it is just for staging purposes! We have new leather loveseats in our family room, and I’m struggling with what to do. Looking at your sofa gives me a few ideas that might work. ?? I need to wait until the side tables come in to make any concrete decisions.
Have a great weekend, sister!!!
Love, love, love the staging you are doing! Don’t be surprised if your house is sold in a day! Those Martha Washington chairs are lovely and your colors and accent choices with the subtle fall touches are all perfect. Thank you for taking us on your journey this way.
Shirley, the furniture shuffle and tweaking looks perfect! I love the Martha Washington chairs in the media room…pretty autumn vignettes! Have a wonderful weekend!
Shirley: Everything is lovely and I am sure your home will sell quickly. Your fall touches are so pretty. I especially love the cotton in your olive bucket – it brings back memories of childhood days in Mississippi. Also, love your Martha Washington chairs, they are classic.
Have a great weekend !
Shirley I see where your staging your home for sale are you downsizing or moving out of state??
Your media room looks beautiful, Shirley. I can’t imagine you’ll have any trouble getting offers on your gorgeous home.

Looks beautiful and so fresh! Ok, I’m going back through your posts to get the scoop on why y’all are selling / moving. xoxo
Love the fall touches you’ve added! Simple and beautiful at the same time. I often use fresh and dried flowers for my fall decorations. Your idea for adding feathers is lovely, I may try it. Thanks for the inspiration!
