Fall Porch Inspiration and a New Favorite

While I sit on my front porch thinking about how blessed I am

to be able to enjoy the mild weather,

I am thinking ahead on how I would like to decorate my porch for Fall this year.

I definitely need to keep it simple, yet festive and inviting this year.

So today, I thought I would just present some Fall Porch inspiration

and a new favorite of mine.

Fall Porch 2016-Housepitalty Designs

These images are from my Fall porch last year.

Last year, I added cobalt blue to the porch in the form of fountains and planters.

A trip to my favorite garden center yielded beautiful mums that are actually grown there.

I will be making a trip there as soon as the mums come out of the greenhouse.

I have actually seen some mums recently at the grocery store!

My ivy topiary actually looked a little sad there … something got to it,

but I nursed it back to health and it looks pretty today.

I placed dried hydrangeas (I had a bumper crop last year) on the grapevine wreaths

among some silk flowers I had on hand in shades of orange.

Before the cobalt blue fountains and planters, I had a vintage wagon

and a weathered vintage door in that corner of the porch.

Mums, pumpkins and stalks of Fall corn fill the wagon.

The wreaths that year consisted of cotton bolls and Fall silk florals.

So stay tuned to see what I do to the Front Porch for Fall this year.

In the meantime, I want to show you my new favorite thing.

Actually, my new favorite yogurt!

It is called OUI … have you heard of it? It so reminds me of the yogurt

we ladies enjoyed in France on our memorable trip and saved the glass containers

to bring home with us. (Note: this is NOT a sponsored post … just wanted to share!)

I continue to pray for those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Today I seemed to feel a bit unsettled when I was thinking about how I wanted to

decorate my porch. I was thinking about decorating my home,

while others are fighting to save their homes and their lives?

I know we all seem to reflect in times like these.

I guess all we can do is pray and think about how we can help, as they certainly need our help.

I wish you a most blessed day.

I love the wagon and the weathered door. Can’t wait to see what you do this year. I agree that what is happening with the hurricane puts things in perspective. We are so fortunate to have our homes at this time when so many have lost theirs.

I get so many wonderful and useful ideas from your blog! It’s so hard for me to get into the spirit for fall decorating, but all the prettiness you create gives me a little push. We’re still dealing with the aftermath of flooding here in the Kansas City area which includes a flooded basement. (Such a mess, but nothing compared to what folks in Texas and Louisiana are enduring!) Maybe doing something like fall decorating will take my mind off the mess downstairs. I hope so!

    I haven’t seen Oui here. I’ll give it a whirl if/when I do. Have a great week!

I know what you mean. A very heartbreaking situation to even further remind us to count our blessings.

Please remind me where you get your mums. I know you told me before, but I can’t remember. I have been getting mine at the farmer’s market for years, but yours are always stunning.

Shirley, your entry is so beautiful! The mums, the Pumkins, they all make it look so welcoming, but it’s your personal touch that creates the cared for, gorgeous “welcome to our home” look. I haven’t seen mums here yet either, but then it’s been hot. Joining you in prayer for our Texas neighbors, xo Lidy

Love the pics you shared of your porch. The colors are lovely. The situation that the people of Houston and surrounding areas are in weighs heavy on my heart these past few days. So heartbreaking.

Shirley, your porch always looks beautiful, but your fall decorations are my favorite! You have the golden touch.

Yes, you’re right: thinking about the folks in Houston really puts things in perspective, doesn’t it? One of my dearest friends had to be evacuated from her beautiful home. It will be awhile before she is even able to survey the damage, much less get started with cleanup. I am grateful she is safe, but now to recover from the devastation will be a long haul.

Just viewing your fall porches reminds me of how blessed we really are. Today’s slow rain on the NC coast is reminding me too, of how thankful we all should be for life. May we desire to be Good Samaritans. Thank you, Shirley. Your blog brings me joy.

Your porch is wonderful – love everything. I have 2 favorites, your hydrangea wreaths and the wagon. I had a similar wagon that belonged to my dad and I had to part wit it when we moved. Yours gave me wonderful memories.

I too, am heart sick for the people in Texas and along the coast. It is all so tragic, at this point we can only offer our prayers.

Have a great week and enjoy your cooler weather !

Your pictures do inspire inspiration for fall. Your porch is so lovely and you decorate your home with a welcoming hospitality. Yes, we are indeed very blessed.
I join you in prayer for all those in Texas. Yes, I feel so helpless but the Bible says, the fervent prayers of a righteous man availeth much so I’ll keep praying and give financially where I know it is needed.
