When the photographer working with the real estate company sent me the photos
of what she took of the house, I realized that I rarely photograph several
rooms of the house. So today I will present some of the rooms that I rarely photograph,
the kitchen and the laundry room.
There will be more soon!
I think the reason why I do not photograph these rooms as often,
is that I am usually not happy with the lighting.
Lots of shadows bouncing all over, but I finally, finally,
ordered something that will come soon to alleviate that problem.
I have never taken photos from some of the angles you will see.
Not sure why …. it is always wonderful to have another person’s perspective.
And….I usually take photos vertically, losing that wider angle.
I like this one that looks into the sunroom.
You will notice in the left portion of the photo, my little coffee room/pantry.
The following photos will give you a peek into the great room area.
And also the dining room . . .
The following photo is taken from the dining room, looking into the kitchen.
I love how this photo shows all of the many columns I have on this main floor.
Every corner on this floor is wrapped by fluted columns.
I will segway you into the laundry room.
Notice the doorway on the right down the hallway by the sunroom.
That is the laundry room.
To gain more space in the laundry room,
our builder put in a pocket door.
Now actually there is enough space to the right of the doorway
to install a “barn door” …. however 12 years ago,
that was not something that you saw in interiors.
I love collecting antique laundry items and they are displayed throughout the room.
I want to thank Laura of ShowSpaces Photography, in Chapel Hill,
for providing these great photographs for me to share with you.
I am doing a lot of catch up this week and from what my sister Betty says,
my mom is doing a lot of catch up too.
When my sister Betty called her, she said my mom was a little distracted.
Then she realized she was watching T.V. while talking to her on the phone.
Mom was catching up on her Japanese programs/shows
on her Japanese TV channel that she so missed. Does anyone remember that T.V. theme song,
“I love my, I love my, I love my MTV” !!!?
Well my mom sings, “I love my, I love my, I love my JTV” !!! She’s a trip!
Have a most beautiful day everyone!

Those are fantastic pictures. I’d have a hard time leaving your home- it’s so beautifully detailed and I love the sizes of the rooms. Seeing your kitchen from this perspective surprised me as to how large it is. The sun room looks so inviting. Love your laundry room too!
Such lovely photos of your beautiful home. The kitchen has so many wonderful details as does every room you have shown. The warm wood cabinets are so elegant! Have a fabulous Thursday, Shirley!
Your Mom is a trip! She is a wonderful case study on how to age with grace, dignity, and good humor. I LOVE these photos!!! I always have admired your beautiful home, but these photos give me even more to love! Are you SURE you want to move?!!? As always, I’ve gained inspiration from just looking at your post!
One of my favorite rooms is your coffee room. Such a great space to keep the coffee bar separate and to start the day. She took some great shots.
Oh my! What a gorgeous home you have!
Treasure the time you have with your Mom!
Have a great day!
These are great photos, and actually show how large your rooms are. Nice perspective. I’m sure when the time comes it’s going to be hard to leave…but exciting too. Your mom is a trip! 😉
I would have a hard time leaving your home but I know you 2 are ready. Your home is so beautiful and has such wonderful space. The pictures are fabulous, the photographer did a fabulous job. Your Mom is so sweet. God bless her. Have a beautiful day. Joe and I are going to Longwood to see all the Fall flowers etc. I will do a post on it soon.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. I will miss seeing it, but i understand the decision to downsize. Looking forward to seeing your future home.
Wow! These areas are also beautiful, I love your kitchen. I would adore all that space. { Maybe I’ll wake up one day and my California cottage will have stretched. }. Your home is beautiful, Shirley, and I know your next home will be beautiful, too, as you are what makes your house a home with all your special touches. Xo
New subscriber here. Just want to say that your house is BEAUTIFUL. The rooms are large and lovely and the cabinetry is just gorgeous. It’s refreshing to see someone who has KEPT their wood cabinetry and has not painted it! Blessings, Suzanne, Vermont.
Such a beautiful home and wonderful photos. I will be looking forward to your new home, I know it will be equally beautiful. An exciting time for you.
Thanks for sharing your home with all of us.
Hi Shirley, I loved seeing a different view of your home. It really show the flow. It’s such a great floor plan and so convenient and usable. Love it!
Have a wonderful day.
xoxo Jo
Your photographs are just beautiful! I love your cabinets. I so miss my old kitchen and my stained cabinets. I have white ones now. It’s kind of hard when you move, because you tend to miss the way
certain things were. Your house is so pretty, and someone is going to love having it. I hope that you have a wonderful day!!!
Beautiful! These photos make me love your home even more, if that is possible! Your home will sell in a snap! Get ready!
How funny, your mom! Great seeing these photos. I love pocket doors – classic, and timeless, unlike barn doors. 🙂
That was Dire Straights, Money for Nothing. LOVE that song!! You have such a beautiful home and it is so beautifully decorated as well. Thanks for the tour through the “new” spaces. 🙂 xox
oops spelled the band’s name wrong – Dire Straits
It was so much fun to see angles of the rooms not shown before! You have such a gorgeous kitchen….and a beautiful home!!!! I never tire of seeing pictures of it :o)

What beautiful angles and kitchen you have Shirley. Nice too see your laundry room too. I love the window in there.
Thanks for inviting me in to your home! It is absolutely beautiful and if it was me I sure would have a hard time leaving it! Blessings to you!
Those photos showcase your house so beautifully. Have a wonderful weekend.
The pictures of your kitchen and laundry are beautiful. I have had the pleasure of seeing your home up close and in person and it is gorgeous. Happy Friday. Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Kris
Shirley, what can I say that I haven’t already about how much I love your home. It is classic, warm and soooo inviting, but with your design talents, I know your new home will be as well. I was considering changing our cabinetry from a color close to yours to creamy white, but haven’t been able to do it as I feel wood grains make a room cozy and, being a lover of fall, I find the darker cabinets exude more of that fall charm when mixed with autumn décor. So enjoyed seeing more areas of your home…stunning!
Your photos are so lovely. I bet it was fun to see another person’s perspective photographing your home. I would enjoy that myself.
I already thinking about your new house and how you will change things. Exciting!
Glad you had a great visit with your mother.
Great photos Shirley! The kitchen at our last house were similar colors and I didn’t photograph the kitchen very often. I don’t do photos of this kitchen either. Maybe it’s because I don’t really decorate the kitchen. Maybe the next house, ha!
beautiful pics of your kitchen, sunroom and laundry room. And yes, Mom is so happy catching up on JapTV.
I love seeing the different views and angles Shirley! I’m surprised someone hasn’t snapped your home up already! I’m anxious to see what your photography/lighting solution. I had to chuckle at mom’s “I love my JTV” 🙂
Shirley, I’m sure you have mixed feelings about selling your beautiful because so many memories were made there. But I am looking forward to seeing you work your magic on your new home as well. I am wondering if you will incorporate a coffee bar in your new home because I think it would be wonderful to have a designated area away from the traffic of the kitchen for coffee/beverages!
The photographs are beautiful. I actually prefer the pocket door over a barn door… why? because you lose picture-hanging space with barn doors! It will be hard to move from a pretty house!
Loved seeing these. Oh and I have laundry room envy!!! Basically your whole house envy!
