I have been working on a a little project and trying to work it in-between
my scheduled activities and a day trip here and there.
So that post will have to be next week. But in the meantime,
can there be more rooms I not often show you? The answer is yes!
Now where shall I start?
Now you are looking at one side of what we call our media room.
However, this is what I do not show very much.
The little kitchenette that is on the other side of this room.
It’s pretty handy for grabbing a drink or popping some popcorn.
We wanted a vintage diner feel thus the 50’s chrome pub table and chairs,
which will be up for sale eventually.
Next up is my hubby’s man cave. It is filled with many old things/antiques
that he loves. No! …. not me!!! . . . Baseball!
He chose this black and maple stained pool table
and I had the idea of installing wainscoting to match the table.
On one side of the room are window seats under the dormers with storage.
To me, architectural details are so important in every room.
This room has a mini bar set up with a sink and a little refrigerator.
A powder room is located behind the mini bar.
The other side of the room has a shed dormer.
The pub table and chairs are tucked under the dormer.
In this little corner are a table and 4 chairs in which board games can be played.
This was our very first purchase from Ethan Allen a bazillion years ago.
We saved and saved for this … all 5 pieces were $225 …. it may have been
like a million dollars to us back in the day . . . . waaaay back in the day. It is very sentimental.
Can’t tell you the many, many conversations with friends and family that happened
at this table. If that table could talk!
There is a closet on the other side of this little corner that houses
all of my Christmas ornaments and decorations that I won’t place in the attic.
Now on to two more rooms and we will call it a day.
The guest room bath from a different angle.
I think I need a wide angle lens .. the photographer really was able to get some
great angles of the rooms that I could never get.
When we built this house, I made certain that each bathroom
with the exception of the powder rooms have double sinks and
that each bathroom also have a linen closet.
This is the hallway bath that is across from my hubby’s office
and next to the other bedroom that serves as a craft room and my sweetie’s room.
This is a large bathroom with a very large shower and toilet to the left side
of the room and across from the vanity is a space that is large enough to have
a bookcase filled with towels and pretties.
Next is the powder room that is located just across from the laundry room.
It is pretty nondescript . . . If we were staying, it definitely would be wallpapered.
So there you have it . . . . you have seen some rooms in the past couple of weeks
that you do not often see.
So from my front porch to yours . . . .
Have a most beautiful day!!!

I love every room in your house. It will be fun to see what you do when you move.

Lovely home! Would hate to have to leave it. (I think it’s funny to call the half bath in a man cave a “powder room”! Hmmm…we need a new term!lol)
Such a great house….is it sold yet? I would think so!!

I love it, Shirley. You have done an outstanding job with all the architectural details and it is beautifully decorated throughout.
When you are ready to list the home I bet it sells right away…and then the whole process can begin of downsizing and figuring out what to keep and what to let go. That is the process we are in right now. Some things are easy to let go–others leave a small ‘rip’ spot because of the memories attached.
Well, Alycia, above just took the words right out of my mouth. Your next “right sized” home will be spectacular too! Have you have any offers yet? Have you designed the new house yet? Have a beautiful day too!

Shirley you have such a beautiful home. I love your design and the calmness it brings. Seeing these new rooms was so fun it reminds me of when you show your garage and I enjoyed that one as well. Thank you for the tour!

I can see why you’re moving. That’s a whole lot of house for two people! BUT……it’s going to be hard going to a smaller space. This house is perfect and very lovely.
The next owners of your house will be very lucky people. It’s so exquisitely decorated! I bet those looking at it will say, “we’ll take it just like it is”! Ha! You can tell it was well loved and all who enter must feel it’s welcoming.
Thank you for sharing pictures of your beautiful house. Us older ladies can look back at all the wonderful memories our houses, tables, etc. contain. What a blessing to read your words and look at your pictures!

You have such a beautiful home Shirley! I love each and every room. I spent quite some time looking at your hubby’s man-cave. You had a great idea with the wainscoting. It really makes that room pop! My son has that baseball fan. It used to be in his bedroom at our home, but he has just moved into his first home and has plans to re-locate the fan to his game room.
I have a question about your hubby’s pool table that I plan to email you about.
Thank you for the tour of rooms that you don’t often share with us. We are all anxiously waiting to see as your future home plans evolve. With your talent, it will be another beautiful home when you put your signature touch to it.
Have a wonderful weekend!!
Shirley, your home is beautiful each and every space! I understand the downsizing! What a wonderful home for a large family!
