How To Easily and Inexpensively Flock A Christmas Tree

For many years, I have had a Christmas tree in my dining room.

It is usually a small slim tree that can be easily placed in a corner.

This year I wanted to do something different, without breaking the bank.

A bit of a different look. I then had an epiphany!

I remembered something that I have used in the past

to embellish my plain miniature Christmas trees.

So today I shall show you how to easily and inexpensively flock a Christmas tree.

But first, let me show you last year’s dining room christmas tree.

Dining Room/Christmas 2016-Housepitality Designs

I often decorate the dining room table during the Holidays with pretty fruit.

The tree was filled with faux ornamental fruit.

I have a plan on how I want to set my dining room table for the Holidays

and I thought that flocking the tree would be a  good start to my plan.

Flocking technique-Housepitality Designs

I lightly flocked the tree using this product: Aleene’s True Snow.

It is easy to use. Just dab on the True Snow, which is like a paste,

with a small paint brush right on to the branches of the tree.

The great thing about using the True Snow is that you can lightly or heavily flock

the tree. I know there are sprays out there, but the spray can get on the lights.

By using a brush, you can control where and how much you want to flock.

Here is the before:

And here is the after:

I chose to lightly flock the tree and if I want a heavier flocked look,

I can always add more.

I am busy planning and preparing for my Christmas decor this year,

in-between other commitments and travel.

Here is some of this year’s Holiday inspiration:

You can purchase Aleene’s True Snow in most craft/hobby stores or Amazon.

I used approximately two 4 ounce jars for this tree which is a slim 6 foot tree.

This technique will give you a look of a light dusting of snow for your tree.

Do you prefer the traditional green Christmas tree or do you prefer the

look of a snow laden tree? I love both.

I wish you all a most beautiful day.

Tea Tree Oil and Cedar Oil in the essence oils keep spiders , outdoor , indoor bugs fleas away. You can spray it on you outside doormats or anything else. I use a small sprayer and add 10 drops @ and a little castle soap and add water to fill sprayer. And spray away

I love both looks! I have used the spray flock before for a wreath, that had no lights. This product looks perfect for a pre lit wreath or tree!

Thanks for the tip on the True snow! I have been wanting to flock some of my smaller trees that I use in vignettes etc. I just saw a tree at Walmart that is nicely flocked, is a very slim tree (which I need for the dining room, and it is only $69.00!!! I think I will get it this week! Have a beautiful day!!!!

I’ve never heard of this paint on kind. I think I may grab some today to apply to a couple of smaller trees. I have spray but, like you say, it gets all over. I think the paint on kind would not shed so much as the spray, too. Thanks, buddy!

It’s pretty, Shirley. I usually have both…a green tree and a flocked tree…the last couple of years I have been liking a tree with some heavier flocking than I used in the past. That was because I used blue and silver ornaments and they really popped against the flocking.

I have not tried that stuff. I didn’t know you could get flocking outside of using a can. I will admit I have even used a light dusting of latex paint in the past to get a snowy look.

I hope you have a great afternoon and evening. xo Diana

I used this great little product for a 3 ft. tall tree that I incorporate in our Victorian family in a sleigh vignette and was so pleased with the look. There are so many awesome products on the market these days, many of which I learn about from all the great bloggers. Your tree turned out so nice, and I love last years with the fruit and artichokes. Hugs!

How gorgeous is that! I have tried the spray snow and it is nothing more than a giant mess maker. I’ll be searching for this paint on flocking now. Thanks for sharing, and I love both of your trees.
