My Guest Room is always simply dressed for Christmas.
Yes, you read that right . . . simply . . . I can do simply at times!
However, this year that is not the case as I added a grand tree in the Guest Room.
The tree took on a 12 Days of Christmas theme with a Southern Traditional look.
So let’s take a look at My Christmas Guest Room and a Beautiful Tree.
Today, I am joining some wonderful fellow bloggers of the 12 Days of Christmas Tour
partnering with the fabulous people of Tree Classics.
I am featuring the 10th Day of Holiday Decor,
A.K.A. the Day of “Ten Lords A Leaping.”
I have a large collection of Dept. 56 Dickens Village.
Part of this collection are figurines depicting the 12 Days of Christmas.
So I dusted them off from being in the attic for years and added them to the tree.
The ever so cute tags depicting each day were gifted to me by my friend and blogger
Christy, of 11 Magnolia Lane. She is a sweetheart!
Now how about that tree! I am truly in love with this tree,
not only for its beauty, but for its ability to change the total look of the tree
just by pressing a button! A button that will allow you to change the color of the
lights from multi-colored lights to clear lights, OR you can have both!
Yes both, as they change from pretty colors to sparkling white.
I have shown you the multi-colored lights on the tree . . .
so let’s see the tree with the clear lights
and the beautiful Tree Classics Bethlehem Star Topper.
I truly cannot decide which lights I prefer as they are both so pretty to gaze upon.
My hubby and son have always loved the multi-colored lights on a tree.
Our Christmas trees for the first several years of our marriage were
strung with stands of multi-colored lights with larger bulbs that you inserted
into the socket. When a light went out, you knew exactly which one it was.
Remember those?
A luxurious quilted red velvet skirt from Tree Classics
lies beautifully beneath the tree.
I filled the tree with pretty ornaments (see source list below), fruit, and stems of cotton.
Sprinkled throughout the tree are loops of black and white checked ribbon
to coordinate with the black and white checked fabric in the room.
When the tree arrived and my hubby saw that it was a 9 footer vs. the 7 1/2 foot trees
that I have from Tree Classics . . . he commented that knowing Tree Classics
this should be easy to assemble….No cords to plug in with each section of the tree.
Each section automatically lights up when you place it into the trunk of this tree!
So now I will switch to the multi-colored lights!
So if you are a house divided, you can have the best of both worlds!
I have to say that I have been partial to the clear lights; however,
I do love the way the multi-colored lights cast such a pretty glow in this room of blues.
When seeing the pretty multi-colored lights on the tree,
it brings back memories of one Christmas as a teenager.
Oh I think I am about to date myself!
It was the year that my dad brought home the shiny silver metallic Christmas Tree.
He was so proud of it! We were all shocked as he being an Iowa Farm Boy,
loved having real Christmas trees and always told us stories of how they would
cut down their own Christmas trees.
So we all accepted this rather “Jetson” looking tree.
Then, my dad comes in with this other box.
It was the latest and greatest . . . The color wheel! It spun round and round
giving off the different colored lights to shine upon the tree.
“No stringing up the lights anymore!”, he said. My mom, being my mom simply smiled!
During the Holidays, we all seem to think back on the wonderful memories we had
with our family . . . some happy . . . some sad.
However, I so love it when seeing something, like the twinkling colored lights of a tree
sparks a memory of a past Christmas. I can clearly remember the joy in my dad’s
face when he brought our “Jetson” tree home with the amazing color wheel!
I want to thank Tree Classics today for bringing back sweet memories of a Christmas past.
And . . . for making my hubby a happy camper . . .
to have a tree with the option of having multi-colored lights!
I know where that tree will land next year!
I wish you all a Very Merry Day!!!

What a fabulous tree in your pretty guest room. My hubby prefers colored lights, too, but I only have clear. OMG my dad brought home one of those trees and the color wheel, too and he was so excited about it as if it was the greatest tree on earth! Thanks for bringing back that memory. 🙂

Your tree is just gorgeous in your beautiful guest room! I adore the traditional Southern theme. Our tree in the living room changes light colors too. We never had an aluminum tree with a color wheel…but we did have flocked trees…my dad loved those! Your guest room looks so inviting….lucky is the guest who gets to stay there! 😉
The tree is beautiful. Our tree has the same lighting option. Love the story about the Jetson tree. We always had a huge traditional real tree at Christmas with the big light bulbs in multi colors. And covered with tinsel!

You outdid yourself again, Shirley. This tree is beautiful, the perfect tree for anywhere, but, oh, the lucky guests that might be allowed to stay in this room! You have such a talent for creating beauty, friend, you could do this professionally. We only had green trees, my Mom, being European, was really always a traditional tree lover only. Merry Christmas!
What a awesome decorated guest room thank you for sharing with us
What a beautiful tree, Shirley. And, what a treat it would be for a guest to enjoy a stay in this lovely room. I know your home is glowing! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

The tree is so gorgeous and your guests will definitely want to stay on long time in that beautiful room! Everything looks wonderful Shirley!
Shirley,
Your memories brought back my own. I don’t mind telling you that when I purchased my aluminum tree back in 1960, I was a high school senior. I had a Christmas party for a group of young girls I taught twirling to and had that tree decorated with pink ball ornaments with the color wheel changing colors. They thought it was beautiful…and I did too. 🙂 Today, my son and his family enjoy that same tree and it gets decorated for Christmas. I’m now 75 years old and he is 51. My how time flies but memories live on. Traditions do too.
Merry Christmas to you and your family from this Florida Gator.
Hello fellow Florida Gator….We kids wish now that we still had that tree!

I too am a child of the sixties and my parents also bought the aluminum tree with the light wheel. After so ,any years of real trees. Your tree is beautiful as all of your trees are. You have so much energy to do all of the decorating that you have done, not to mention the amount of ornaments you have on your trees. Bless you for doing it and I hope your dear family appreciates all you do.
Merry Christmas ?
Your guest room is gorgeous always but the tree just makes it that much prettier. Have a fun week.
Your home is looking so pretty all dressed for Christmas. Enjoy.
xoxo

I just love hearing your wonderful memories and stories of your childhood. You are so blessed that you have such wonderful memories. This tree is really beautiful and looks so pretty in your gorgeous guest room. If we were your guests, Joe would want the colored lights and I would want the white:):) I wonder why men seem to prefer the colored lights.

Hi Shirley The room looks fantastic. Love everything about it. Could you tell me where you bought
that beautiful bed? Thanks so much.
The room and the tree look fabulous…I never thought to put Christmas figures on the tree. How did you do it…wire? Growing up we only had real trees but oh how I wanted one of the silver sparkly ones. In fact, I still do. 🙂

Hi Shirley
I think that we all have some memories of times that passed. My dad used to have those big light bulbs that you mentioned. As a little girl I can remember watching him switching them when he needed. We always had fresh trees too; a tradition that I am still keeping because it’s the scent of the tree that pleases me more than anything else. I love what you’ve done with that bedroom it’s fantastic. I have mentioned before to you how much I like pineapple can you please tell me where I can find the pillows you use on the bench and the one with the blue pineapple. Great job as always. Please continue to inspire us. Happy Holidays!
Ah, Thanks for placing a tree in my guest room Shirley…you know how fond I am of your tole trays 🙂 I love the versatility of the lights, multicolor and white for the best of both worlds! And I love your collection of 12 days ornaments and your signature pineapple touches with your pillows. ♥
