I had full intentions of showing you my refreshed Sunroom for a little jump start to Summer.
It can truly double for Spring too.
Yes, Summer, as I think we may just go from Winter to Summer with the crazy weather
we have been experiencing. However, the rain and gloomy days
have kept me from photographing the room.
So today, I thought I would give you a little bit of What Have I Been Up To?
I can honestly say that my life is always a bit on the hectic side.
There is always something going on, whether it be things going on around the house,
travels, and activities, and not to mention the occasional shopping excursions.
Let’s start with curing my Spring Fever by beginning to fluff the porches and yard.
The very first thing that I do on the lower back porch that we call The Veranda,
is to hang 10 ferns. It just says, welcome to the South!
All of the porches are still a work in progress. Finding the perfect flowers for each one.
Definitely need another pot of flowers to break up all the blue here.
There are always many trips to my favorite garden center (Dale’s Greenhouse, Sanford, NC)
where the flowers and plants are beautiful and of high quality.
So let’s talk shopping . . . a trip to my favorite consignment shop,
Always Home, Durham, NC, yielded a great Bouillotte lamp.
I believe it is vintage and may be Frederick Cooper.
The shade is made of brass. The outside has a painted black textured finish.
Stay tuned to where I gave it a home.
My neighborhood/community is very active …. there is every club imaginable.
Every couple of months we have a neighborhood coffee and residents volunteer
to host at their home. This month I volunteered along with my friend Sherri.
Since I only have one oven (this may change soon) I have to coordinate the times
that the various dishes need to go into the oven. This is how I do it:
Just about a minute before the guests would arrive, Sherri said, “you should snap a few pics”
So I quickly grabbed my camera.
I took the photos rather quickly so they are not up to par, but here’s a sampling of
what was served:
My homemade Orange Rolls and a bowl of fresh fruit salad.
Sherri made egg and southern grits casseroles….they were yummy!
In the background is a plate of tomato, avocado, and bacon on toasted baguette slices.
Here is my signature Tropical Orange Pasta Casserole. It is a family favorite.
The next time I make it, I shall present the recipe.
It is always great to attend a community function to see my friendly neighbors.
These functions give us the opportunity to get together as so many of us lead such busy lives.
Did I mention we travel a lot?!! There are times when I travel with my hubby
if he is going on a business trip to a place where I can entertain myself and visit friends.
Also, from March to November, the Boys of Summer travel to tournaments.
Their first tournament of this year was in Virginia and they won.
These old guys with young hearts can play!!! (My hubby is in the front row at far left)
Off to Maryland for the next tournament.
I think the farthest we will travel for a tournament this year will be Vegas.
I have been working on the Sunroom Refresh….here is a sneak peek!
Hope you enjoyed a sampling of “What have I been up to?” . . .
my activities in-between family time . . .
I recently had the pleasure of shopping with my Sweetie for a dress for her school dance.
I have a most beautiful picture of her in her dress but I promised her that I would not
share it on Social Media…..Is that a teenager thing?
Speaking of my beautiful Sweetie . . . I wish you all a most beautiful day!
