It all started with a pillow, then another, then more pillows . . .
isn’t that always the case in most circumstances?
You see a pillow that speaks to you. Then you know just where to put it,
thus the beginning of a room refresh and the shuffling of items around the house.
You take one piece from one room . . . place it in another . . .
then you seek another piece to replace the piece you took away.
And so on and so on.
The pillow(s) landed in the sunroom and so An Early Summer Sunroom Refresh began.
I was shopping at Pottery Barn with my friend Merry one day and I came across
these beautiful crewel floral patterned pillows.
I loved the fact that although the crewel work made it a bit formal in appearance,
it also had a casual look and feel with the burlap trim. They were also on sale!!
The blues and greens in the pillows would go very nicely in the sunroom
and would be a great start to creating an early summer sunroom refresh.
Did you also spy another new pillow?
While shopping (again) with Merry at HomeGoods during a tournament weekend trip,
I found this striped pillow with the same colors as the Pottery Barn pillows.
The pillow was perched on a sofa that was on display. Only one pillow?
I had already perused the pillow aisles and did not see that pillow
until I spotted it on a sofa. Ugh! Only one? It went into the cart nonetheless.
I was on a mission. I needed one more of that cute striped embroidered bird pillow.
Back to the pillow aisles again. . . . no luck.
I thought, well maybe I will have more luck at the HomeGoods in my town.
So I headed to the check out counter with the lone pillow in my cart.
I turned the corner and maneuvered around an outdoor seating set
and there it was! . . . perched on the chair just waiting for me to snap it up!
So when you think there may just be one pillow in the store, look around.
You may find it on a piece of furniture or on a shelf tucked into a display of linens.
I have found the “mate” to an item before in the most unusual places.
So what else is different in the room?
Did you notice the Bouillotte lamp that I gave you a sneakie peekie of in my last post?
Yes, it’s the lamp that I purchased from my favorite consignment shop,
Always Home in Durham, NC.
I did a little bit of research and I think it could be a Frederick Cooper lamp.
It has many characteristics of it. The label on the bottom is missing so I cannot be certain.
I brought the Juliska pitcher that was an AMAZING find at HomeGoods into the sunroom.
I changed up the potting bench a bit, adding an ironstone pitcher of ivy
and shuffling around an ironstone bowl and vintage books for more color and texture.
You can always find a few floral arrangements in the room.
It is what makes it happy and me too!
Speaking of happy flowers . . . stay tuned next week for another edition of Floral Friday.
I wish you all a most fantastic Friday and a most beautiful weekend
filled with great plans of fun and hopefully sun! It is going to be very pleasant and sunny here!
Skies of Carolina Blue!

I love your new pillows and especially the new ones from HomeGoods. I’m so glad you found the mate. I looked all over a store here for an outdoor pillow mate, but never found it so it’s just the one. That’s okay I’ll pair it with others. Oh, the thrill of the hunt!

Shirley, love the sunroom anytime! The pillows are wonderful, both the PB ones and HG ones. The Juliska pitcher is so fabulous and to find it at HG is amazing. The more than likely, Frederick Cooper lamp, is perfect where you placed it! Happy Friday!

Ooh I do love the new pillows! Glad you found the mate to the one from Home Goods. Those stores can drive you crazy when you find something you like but need more. I didn’t know that you could find any Juliska products at Home Goods! Love that pitcher- what a good find!

Gorgeous!! And I love the way you think…..as in early summer look. We are on a tropical vacation and I’m just hoping it will be spring when we return home tomorrow! Love those pillows, flowers, the Juliska pitcher, and great lamp! I bought a great Frederick Cooper lamp with Asian theme at an auction for just $20, and then spent a small fortune for a beautiful silk shade to top it, lol. I do still have it in my LR, though, so it was a good purchase.
Enjoy your weekend, Shirley!
You have a magic touch to make each room beautiful, no matter the season or time of year. I love both sets of pillows! I also love the Juliska pitcher! Perfect and I’m sure was a great price at HG! Your flowers are beautiful as is the new lamp! I love a touch of black in any room. Have a most wonderful weekend!!!!

You have such enviable good taste! I love it that your eyes are always wide open looking for the next best fabulous find!!!
Hi I was wondering if you could educate me on how the lamp got it’s name since our family name on my mom’s side is Brouillette. Would be interested in the history. Thanks!
Love the pillows! Rather like that floral, arrangement with the yellow tulips too.? It all looks so inviting.
Love both sets of pillows! Your sunroom is a happy place.
