Flowers and Music for Floral Friday

Happy Friday Dear Readers!

It’s a wonderful Friday as it is the first Friday of the month

which means it’s Floral Friday! I am joining the Floral Friday team,

three of my very lovely and talented friends,

Lidy, Mary, and Pam to bring you some beautiful flower inspiration.

Today our theme is Flowers in a Box.

Join me for my Flowers and Music for Floral Friday.

Floral-Friday-Summer-2018

I had a box in mind to create my floral arrangement, but realized . . .

ooops! . . . I packed it away! So off I went to shop the house,

when I found something of sentiment that was perfect.

Music Box-Housepitality Designs-2

This faux inlaid wood music box belonged to my late mother-in-law.

There is a label on the bottom that reads, Made In Italy . . . and so was she.

She loved everything made in Italy.

Tray-Housepitality Designs

I then remembered another faux inlaid wood item . . . a  tray that I purchased from

guess . . . my favorite consignment shop, Always Home. I bought it for a

potential gift. Hey mom, don’t peek!

I realized how great this tray would look with the music box arrangement.

The flowers that I used today are Alstroemeria (apple green and purple with white),

lavender and green mums, and Gerbera daisies in a pretty white and apple green.

Flowers by Trader Joe’s and the arrangement cost approximately $20 with flowers left over.

I began creating this arrangement by grabbing the larger flower first,

the green and lavender mums. But let’s go back . . . I filled a disposable

food container that I had on hand and I cut it to fit the box

and filled it with wet floral foam.

Floral Friday-Housepitality Designs-7

I placed the first mum in the middle towards the back of the box against the lid.

Then alternated with the Gerbera Daisies creating an arch design. Then filling in the

rest of the daisies and mums to form lower levels of arches, leaving spaces in-between

for my filler which were the Alstroemerias.

I love to place flowers on the edges for a cascading affect.

Music Box-Housepitality Designs

The arrangement faces away from the loveseat

so you can see it as soon as you enter the room.

You can see the pretty lid from the other side of the arrangement.

Floral Friday-Housepitality Designs-3

This floral  arrangement on the tray is just enough.

No need to place any other pretties on the table.

Just a single book is placed on the bottom shelf of the table.

I must say that I was thrilled to have found those green and lavender mums.

They were my “inspiration” flower and I gathered the other flowers to coordinate

with the colors of the mum.

Floral Friday-Housepitality Designs-6

I wish those mums were available when I accented the sunroom in shades of plum.

Now I must confess, it’s been a busy week here and I was creating this arrangement

in my laundry room while the Home Appraiser was measuring and assessing my house.

Needless to say, my laundry room looked like a floral shop. However, my hubby says

that the entire house sometimes looks like a floral shop.

Thank you so much for joining us in another fun Floral Friday.

Now it is time to visit my dear friends and you can see their amazing floral designs.

They truly inspire me and will inspire you! The links to their posts are below their images

or what I call “sneakie peekies” !! ENJOY . . . ENJOY!!!!

Gorgeous Shirley! Keep Calm and Flower On…you’re my hero participating during this busy time between your packing, appraisal and travels! The mums and flowers in the arrangement are perfectly paired with your drapery fabric and colors of your sunroom. And what a beautiful inlaid box…I love the shot of the lid with the flowers cascading over the side. Your tray is a beauty too, you find the best stuff at Always Home! Thank you for sharing this beautiful flower arrangement and organizing us. Happy June ♥

Mary, i wrote your “Keep Calm and Flower On” on a 3×5 card and it is on the kitchen island propped up against a vase of hydrangeas (and by the way mine are blooming like crazy…go figure now that I am moving) where I can see throughout the day!

Shirley, I have loved every room in your beautiful home (sniff), but the sunroom is such a happy spot! The inlaid music box is so lovely all filled with a beautiful mixture of green and plum flowers! Does the music box still play and what song? The tray it rests on is also lovely! Your favorite shop,is a treasure trove of pretties! I agree with Mary, you are my hero to participate and organize us in the midst of packing! Your exude grace and beauty dear friend! You also have a beautiful gift of floral design!

Another gorgeous arrangement as you have the flower styling creating gift. I would say that inlaid box from Italy is real not faux. We went to one of the shops in Italy where artists create those inlaid pieces by hand piece by piece to create amazing pieces of art.

Beautiful Shirley. The sentimental music box was the perfect choice..glad the other one was packed. The tray goes perfect. The colors in your arrangement are beautiful and I too love the cascading look. I have a box very similar that was given to me. I am going to get it out and create..inspired by yours. Keep on keeping on…it can be overwhelming. Take time to enjoy your blooming hydrangeas.

You have created another beautiful arrangement and chose the perfect container. You are lucky to have some treasures from your in-laws as I am!!! The box and tray are beautiful and so pretty on that table that I love. Amazing that you can do all this at such a busy time. Have a beautiful weekend. XO PS, I am wondering why all of a sudden my name is not filled in and that my last post doesn’t show up anymore? It always has in the past.

Shirley, you are a genius at arranging beautiful flowers and “keeping on” during the moving! I LOVE those green alstroemerias, love. The mums and other flowers in your box arrangement are perfectly paired with the colors in your sunroom.

I love the box, the memories, and the tray. It’s a joy to be a part of Floral Friday with you, sweet friend. Happy June!! I’ll miss your gorgeous home, but know that your next one will be just as wonderful, as you make everything beautiful and welcoming, it’s one of your many talents. xoxo Lidy

Shirley, I will have to say, this is one of my favorites. The flowers are beautiful as usual, but the lovely box you chose to hold them and the tray that displays your work of art, makes me want to reach into the picture and lift them to smell the beauty! Thank you for sharing. Have a great weekend. And tell your hubby what a lucky guy he is to live in a flower shop married to the talented shopgirl!?

Hi Shirley! It was really good to get a visit from you! I hope you’re doing well. Your flower arrangement is gorgeous! I really like the combination of lavender and apple green with white. My mother-in-law has a music box very similar to yours that she purchased when visiting Vienna, Austria many years ago. I have always thought it was so pretty. 🙂

I love your sunroom; it always looks so cheerful. I enjoyed your floral post and hope you have a great weekend!

    Hugs,

    Denise

Very pretty vignette, hello from Australia!
Your sign in box would not allow me to put a capital letter on my username.

Lovely arrangement in equally lovely music box and inlaid tray! The colors go beautifully with the room, too. Thanks for taking the time when you must be so busy with packing up your home–you’re a real trooper, Shirley. I will miss seeing your home, but I know your new one is going to be stunning, and I can’t wait to see it. I haven’t been getting your posts so I resubscribed.

Gosh, that’s so pretty, Shirley, and the two pieces together – the box and tray – go so well together (and so does that book!). Gorgeous arrangement.
So, a home assessor – does that mean a potential buyer, or have you switched realtors and re-listing? Either way, best wishes.
