it's all about the hospitable home

The Largest Laundry Room I’ve Ever Had

When my hubby and I were touring the Berry Patch House to possibly rent,

there was one room that was definitely larger than any of the rooms of that purpose

that I have ever had. I soon came to find out that the owners designed the laundry room

to have lots of shelving to use as a pantry as the kitchen has no pantry.

This was deliberate, as they required more space than a typical pantry would offer.

So today I present to you the laundry room of the Berry Patch House.

The Largest Laundry Room I’ve Ever Had!

When you enter the room, the above is what you would first see.

On the right side of the room is a bank of cabinetry with a granite top and a laundry sink.

Then there is a blank wall that used to house shelving.

I am using many of my enamelware pieces, such as my vintage French pitchers,

and blue and white enamelware bowls.

That wall now has my pie safe (which I use for some pantry items) and

a table that I use for folding clothes.

The drop leaf table is great for a folding table

as I can expand the table when needed.

Since the laundry room was so large, I carted  all of my laundry room

items that I used to decorate my previous laundry room to the Berry Patch House

loaded in bins in the back of my SUV.

Rather than packing up all those items for storage, I thought that I needed to

decorate that large room. I need pretty when doing not so pretty chores!

I must say that it is nice to have the same amount of cabinetry

that I had in my prior laundry room.

I used to have the vintage baskets that are now hanging on the wall in this laundry room,

on the ledge above the front door in our previous home.

They fill the vast wall space in this room nicely.

The vintage metal shelf continues to display some vintage laundry items.

The mud bench that was previously just outside the door that led from the garage to the house,

found a new home in the laundry room.

In my previous home, I had a counter top over the washer and dryer for ease

of folding clothes. I have decided that after having both options

I prefer having a countertop over the washer dryer.

And . . . there is probably one thing that I will not be putting in the new laundry room . . .

This doggie shower:

It’s located to the right of the washer dryer just inside the door

that can be accessed from outside the house.

As you can see, the room is long and narrow.

Did I mention that I will have a large laundry/craft area in the new house?

I can’t wait to design that area.

WOW, that is the biggest laundry room I have ever seen! What a dream! Since our laundry “room” is so tiny my washer and dryer are raised on the under drawers. So they are too high for me to fold clothes. I love how you have decorated this room! I sure would LOVE to be able to actually design a home, what a dream.

That is a big laundry room! You were lucky to find such a lovely house to rent while building! The only house we could find was outdated and dark and gloomy.

I love a large laundry room. I wish I had one! How nice that it even has a ceiling fan. I like how you decorated yours. I noticed a few Longeberger baskets as well. I have quite a few of them throughout my home and enjoy seeing how others use them in their homes.

It’s so fun to see your new spaces and how you decorate them. I don’t remember seeing your laundry room in the last house. I spotted your P. Buckley Moss prints! I love her art. I have a few with one of them autographed.

    Oh my! How wonderful to have all that space….and to think, we have our laundry in the garage….Mr. FGH will be slightly jealous {he does most of our laundry!!}

You have decorated this room so wonderfully with all your special antiques and laundry items, Shirley. I can see you joyfully folding and placing clothes and cloths in a basket to bring to the closet. Beautiful!

Oh to have all that space and storage in that laundry room! Our laundry room at the lake is like a small closet with the washer/dryer stacked! Love all your vintage goodies and enamelware pieces. ♥

I love that the laundry room is so large and functional! The doggie shower would be good for those with little kids, as well!

How did I miss this post? That is definitely a large laundry room, but you have so many vintage and antique pieces to fill it up. How exciting that you will have a craft room within the laundry.
